When it comes to Dungeons and Dragons and other similar TTRPGs, Dungeon Masters have the monumental task of building the world which players get to adventure through. One tool available for Dungeon Masters interested in sparking the imaginations of their players is sound. Now, thanks to the efforts of one Dungeon Master who also works as an orchestral composer and sound designer, DMs everywhere have access to 300 professional quality ambiance sounds and songs specifically designed to enhance the RPG playing experience.

Typically, Dungeon Masters interested in setting the mood through music and ambient noise for their campaigns have relied on poaching pre-existing compositions from video games and movies. Often these tracks are poor quality or end up being more trouble than they're worth.

Luckily, due to his experience as a DM himself, composer and sound designer Michael Ghelfi has taken these struggles into account. In a recent Reddit post, Ghelfi has made his original compositions available to DMs everywhere, sharing his playlists and via channels on YouTube, Spotify, and download links, all free. Through the support of his Patreon, he has been able to purchase the licenses to the samples he uses, enabling him to create high-quality original music and ambiance.

Furthermore, Ghelfi has composed his music and sounds to have standardized volumes so that DMs won't have to worry about adjusting the tracks during gameplay. As he continues to grow his library, Ghelfi—who's from Switzerland—also collaborates with other artists from Patreon, such as Ross and Troy McConnell, the Australian artist/writer duo behind 2-Minute Tabletop, who create maps and encounters available for DM usage.

With volumes upon volumes of 30-minute tracks, all of which have been descriptively named with titles like "Water Temple," "Wind Temple," "Cultist Hideout," "Decadent Noble Party," and more; Dungeon Masters are sure to find the right soundtrack for their campaigns.

The spirit of collaboration and Ghelfi's willingness to share his work with other DMs perfectly exemplifies the sort of community ethos that makes TTRPGs so special. The very nature of a game like Dungeons and Dragons relies on groups of people coming together to tell an epic story. With the internet's ability to connect players, artists, and DMs from around the world, the TTRPG community continues to flourish, enriching the gaming experience for everyone.
