This week's update might have been delayed, but that doesn't mean this isn't a busy time for Fortnite. Far from it, in fact.

The driving force behind everything new to Fortnite right now continues to be Party Royale. This past weekend, the new island was officially opened via yet another in-game concert, this time featuring Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki, and deadmau5. The new project continues to grow as what exactly Fortnite is gradually evolves, and at just the right time.

Speaking of evolution, Epic has had the arrival of a new generation of consoles to consider for the first time since Fortnite was released. It revealed this week that the game will be available to download and play from the launch of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It will also make the jump from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 in 2021.

As for the 12.60 update which was expected to land this week, that has been delayed — likely due to the extended season format Fortnite has been forced to adopt. To make up for it, the game will be getting updates next week and the week after. One thing is for certain — Epic is not tripping over the same stumbling blocks it did during the bloated first season of chapter two.
