The next DLC character to arrive in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a returning cast member from the last game in the series, as Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII will be arriving next month.

Tifa was originally a playable character in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, but she was missing from the base version of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Tifa is a speed-type character, and her moves include her Limit Breaks from Final Fantasy VII, which require the player to use mechanics based on the reels of a slot machine.

Tifa's default outfit is based on her clothing from Final Fantasy VII and her alternate costumes include her outfit from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and her original concept art. It's surprising that her outfit from Final Fantasy VII Remake has not made an appearance in the game, though that might be added in a later update. Tifa also has access to several different weapons from Final Fantasy VII, including her Leather Gloves, Metal Knuckles, Mythril Claws, and Platinum Fists.

Tifa's return to the Dissidia series was leaked in a datamine in 2018, but the addition of Zenos from Final Fantasy XIV as a DLC character put those leaks into question, as he was not listed as part of the original datamine. Now that Tifa is confirmed, it adds credence to the possibility that Zenos was a late addition and that the other characters listed in the datamine (like Zack and Vivi) might be coming to the game in the future.

The return of Tifa to the Dissidia series has long been anticipated (even before the datamine) due to her popularity with the Final Fantasy fans. The love for Tifa also extends to the staff at Square Enix, as director Mitsunori Takahashi said that he would never have made Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy if he hadn't been allowed to add Tifa to the game. The fact that Tifa is back in the gaming news due to the reveal of her new appearance in Final Fantasy VII Remake means that this is the perfect time to bring her back to the Dissidia series.

Tifa will be coming to the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy on June 27 and will be coming to the PlayStation 4 version of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT on July 3.
