Battlefield is a franchise that’s created by DICE, and they’ve always made sure their games are packed full of little easter eggs and secrets. When many people look at FPS games, they don’t really think of challenge beyond the skill of the actual multiplayer and team playing. People don’t really think of FPS games, especially this big in size, as a way to introduce puzzles and more creative aspects. We wanted to give a bit of the spotlight to the Battlefield series, especially Battlefield 1. This series really pushes the limits and never lets us down, but we do have some opinions form the greater community behind this game that many of you probably relate to in many ways!

We’ll be showcasing fifteen different things that they've put in their games that push the limits of the FPS genre,. Others are negative in some respect and quite surprising. As much as we love this series, there are some negative aspects to playing it that you might not notice right away and the reason they’re on this list is simply because it’s surprising that DICE thought that it would be okay to include them in the first place.

This list will combine a ton of different aspects to keep it interesting and if you have found any of these points or thought that how often you respawn in the game is annoying, share this article with their friends so they can relive the annoying and amazing aspects of this game!

15 Actual Unicorns?

Via VG247

If you weren’t aware, the newest game in this franchise allows you to actually ride into battle on a horse. But they also made sure to include a little secret as well: unicorns! Yes, you can actually ride into battle on a unicorn. But it’s not just any unicorn, it can shoot rainbows, it’s obviously magical.

It looks awesome, and it can even talk!

Sadly, if you haven’t been playing this game for a long period of time, you might not be able to actually get this easter egg, but it sure is surprising nonetheless. Back in April, DICE created a special April Fool’s prank by adding this magical creature into the game. They even tricked the players into not even letting them on to the joke by creating a whole other horse, but when they clicked to ride that horse it would be a unicorn.

14 And Yes, Zombies Too

Via Game Wire

Unlike many other popular FPS games with massive franchises like this particular series, Battlefield 1 has no kind of zombie mode. Even though many people have been asking for this kind of mode to be added, it hasn't been, even though the community wants it. But DICE tricked everyone and added a surprising easter egg for people who happen to be curious enough. There is an area of the game called Fort De Vaux, in this area it’s possible to find a door with the written word, “Isolement.” When you come across this door, you’ll notice that it’s blocked off, chained, and screams are coming from behind it. You’ll just have to open the door and find out who’s in there. But be careful, you might just find a gruesome zombie back there that will chase you anywhere you go if you don’t banish him for good.

13 The Doom Mashup

via: youtube.com

One small aspect of this game that has set the franchise apart has been the reload animations and rare ones you can collect while playing the game. Not many games offer this unique kind of personalization, it really creates more immersion and makes the game more fun to play.

But there is one very rare animation, and many people didn’t even realize how special it was!

For those of you out there who have been gaming for a very long time, you’d probably be able to tell exactly what animation this special treat is from. It’s from Doom! At first many people thought the animation was laggy because of how choppy it was, but as soon as you see the reload animation right next to the original Doom gameplay, there’s no way you can miss it. This is such a fantastic touch to the game, especially if you love classics like Doom.

12 Creepy Baby Crying

Via YouTube

We don’t know about you, but we would like to live our lives without ever hearing a baby cry. Especially when it’s coming from a mysterious door, WHAT?! Babies crying in a game with spooky surroundings are just awful. It’s creepy, and totally an easter egg I wouldn’t mind just never finding ever.

For those who were able to play the CTE you probably found a door at some point around the area of Prise De Tahure. If you actually hit the door with a melee weapon, you’ll hear a baby crying, as well as a mother trying to calm the baby down. While it’s obvious what the intent was, to make it very realistic, it honestly just came off very creepy to many people who found this without really thinking about it. Can you imagine what the first person thought when they accidentally hit this creepy door?

11 A Scary Dark Souls Reference

Via Game Rant

If you’ve played the hair-pulling game Dark Souls, you’ll recognize these scene straight away. You might even completely turn off your console if you see this easter egg because of how many flashbacks you’ll experience. On the map They Shall Not Pass, you’ll notice that there's a sword sticking out of a bonfire that’s burning away. It’s not only an ode to this amazing game, but you can actually use it as well.

Sadly only one person can pick it up per round.

If the individual has it and perishes, it will be gone from the game until the next round. When you hit someone with this melee weapon, it only takes one hit. It’s very overpowered, but it’s so much fun to see people literally flee from you as soon as they see that you have the sword. You’re basically unstoppable for the time being!

10 A Huge Megalodon WIll Give You Nightmares

Via YouTube

Not only are there zombies and unicorns, there are also giant sharks rising from the depths of the tiny puddle. While many people already know about this surprising surprise, we just had to include it because it’s so strange and weird! Ever since the fourth installment in this franchise, the community has believed that there was a Megalodon somewhere on the map, but it actually didn’t exist for years. Because of so many rumors DICE actually added it into the game in one of their expansions for that particular game. But moving forward to the most recent release of Battlefield 1, the Megalodon actually is in the game. You can see the Megalodon in the DLC map Fort De Vaux. Yes, the same map as the zombie. Even if you read this and try to find the Megalodon, we can sure promise that its sudden appearance will still surprise you!

9 You Can End People With Gates

Via Game Banana

If you don’t want to deal with your enemies face to face and you’re not one that enjoys fair fights, you can actually bring an end to your enemy team without even firing a weapon.

You can choose to take out your enemies with style if you happen to playing on the map called Ballroom Blitz.

If you run through the gates, which will be located in an archway, they’re very hard to miss. You’ll notice right away that they are hanging open and are a bit suspicious. Once you run through the gates, if you turn to your left, there will be a lever there so you can drop them on anyone that happened to be following you. Or if you practice enough you can time it right and it’s an instant elimination! We’re not quite sure how someone figured this out, probably by accident, but it is very cool nonetheless! It also makes the game a bit more interesting than just a typical FPS.

8 Horses Make It Easy To Cheat

Via YouTube

Like we’ve mentioned above there are many interesting added features to this game, including horses. There's a little trick that basically make horses just as strong as tanks. It’s fun if you’re on a horse, but if you’re constantly being eliminated by those on horses, it’s annoying, to say the least. In our opinion and the opinion of the community, this easter egg/hack is a bit too far for the game. It makes the gameplay very unbalanced and unfair.

Basically, when you’re on a horse it’s very strong. It’s hard to kill a horse in the game, but on top of that, you will have much more ammo because of the satchels on the side of the horse. But even when those bags of ammo run out, you can actually just jump off the horse and mount the horse again and the ammo will instantly be restored to max quantity. Many people are unsure of whether this is a bug or not. Let’s hope they fix it if it is!

7 Change Your Loadout In-Game?!

Via Battlefield Wiki

Yes, but it’s not as good as it sounds, trust us. It was surprising that DICE created the customization menus the way they did in this game, because it really did tick off a ton of people. It’s difficult to use the customization, and you can ONLY access it in a match. Not only is it difficult to get to, but it’s only text based when you want to change your loadouts as well.

It’s very difficult and takes away from the core gameplay of the game in the first place.

Who wants to start the match and not be prepared? Can you imagine joining a multiplayer match and just having to pause the game when it starts just to choose what guns you want to use? It’s a bit absurd, and seems like a step back for the series. Especially since the only real way to use the customization is with a companion app.

6 You Can Actually Destroy A Tank With This

Via YouTube

One small element that makes this game stand out has always been the vehicles. This has always been something that has set the game apart from other FPS triple-A titles on the market. Although, we wouldn’t recommend that you try this, because of how powerful these vehicles are. But you should know that you can take out a tank just from a pistol. Granted, it’s very hard to do this and there are more powerful weapons that cause more damage. But we would recommend that if you're going to do this, try to look for an enemy tank that is already pretty damaged. Sometimes you can take it out completely with just one clip in your pistol. You won’t get a ton of XP from doing this, but it is pretty fun, if we’re being honest. Will you be trying this stunt next time you play?

5 There Are Tons Of Secret Puzzles

Via Battlefield.com

One thing that Battlefield 1 really hit the nail on the head with is when it comes to collectibles, challenges, and puzzles. There are tons of different ways to really push this game and collect tons of loot that will make you stand apart. We’re glad, because when a game like this is so big and it’s a triple A title, there needs to be some extra incentive to play the game. Throughout the game you’ll be tasked to find puzzle pieces that will help to unlock battlepacks.

They're basically loot boxes.

When you unlock these battlepacks, you’ll have a chance at getting random weapons and other customization elements. But one negative about this is the fact that it takes a TON of effort to get these packs. Most of them aren’t that great. It takes a ton of grinding to get something worthwhile from this look box challenge, so be prepared.

4 The Collector’s Edition Doesn’t Come With This

Via YouTube

When games release collector's editions, that come with a figure, the art book, the soundtrack and more, it’s a beautiful thing, especially if it’s a game you adore. Usually when games have these amazing boxes, they are a limited edition. This is why they're a collector’s edition of the game. But one thing is a bit confusing and makes you wonder if it’s actually worth it or not. This collector’s edition actually does not comes with the game! What kind of box is this, that it comes with all this stuff for a very hefty price tag, but it lacks the actual game?! Basically, if you buy the collector’s edition, which is still on sale for some reason, you would have to buy the base game separately. That’s a bit too much, honestly. Almost over two hundred dollars! This is one of the only times in gaming history that a triple A title game like this has released a collector’s edition box without the actual disc.

3 So Many Vehicles One Shot

Via Total Gaming Network

We’ll be going into detail more below, but the vehicle advantage is too far to ever be considered fair. Not only are the maps huge, but one huge problem isn’t the maps, it’s how strong and unbalanced the tanks and planes are. Of course in a realistic point of view, this is normal, but in a game, it makes it very annoying to constantly be playing in stealth trying to bypass the tanks that are always shooting nonstop in every direction because they know people are hiding.

The multiplayer just doesn't seem fair.

Maybe in the future we can look forward to a nerf at some point in a game update so the multiplayer modes can be a bit more fair in some respect. What kind of changes would you like to be able to see throughout the updates in the future to make the gameplay much more fair? We’d love to know your opinion, especially if you share this article with your friends!

2 Things Are Too Spread Out

Via YouTube

This amazing game is huge, to say the least. The campaign will be very spread out, which actually makes sense since it will be taking place all over the world. But it seems like they’ve taken their multiplayer maps to the next level by paying more attention the the vehicle aspect of the gameplay. While this is great in some cases, many players want to be able to keep the game balanced, whether you’re playing your character on the ground or in a huge tank. The community agrees that the maps are too huge for any advantage if you want to play on foot. Many complaints have been sent to DICE, and they’ve worked hard to improve the game and listen to the feedback. But we’ve seen them do this before. Every game they release in this franchise feels like they’re just expanding the space.

1 You’ll Lose Quickly

Via YouTube

One last gripe we have to pick with DICE is the fact that you might be running on a huge map for 5 minutes before you even see an enemy, let alone get a chance to eliminate them. Then, all of a sudden, a plane gets you without any warning. The fact that you are constantly being eliminated isn’t anything to do with skill which is quite annoying, and it forces people to basically play this game like a stealth game.

This game just isn't about skill anymore.

In conclusion, the imbalance of this game is quite the negative and has shaped the playing of this game in many ways, but even though Battlefield 1 has pushed the limits too far for the FPS community, it still is a fantastic game. After this roller coaster of easter eggs, creepy moments, and complaints about this game, we wouldn’t ask for anything that different. DICE has always put out titles in the community that hold up to their previous games.

What are your thoughts on Battlefield 1? Did you find any tips on this list that you didn’t know before?
