Despite having a crude sense of humor, the Borderlands games are usually intended for more mature audiences. This is most likely down to the high amounts of gore present in most of the games, references to drugs and alcohol, and scantily clad characters like Mad Moxxi. However, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is rated as one of Gearbox's more family-friendly titles, although it was still given a teen rating for one very peculiar reason.PAX East is currently ongoing, and a panel of developers from Gearbox have revealed that one of the reasons the game is rated for teens is due to instances of "partial nudity." These developers were very keen to show people why a "partial nudity" warning was slapped on Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, bringing out a life-sized costume of one of the game's Shroom enemies, cheeks on full display for all to see.You can see the exact reasons why the rating was given to the game on the ESRB website (thanks PCGamesN), as it describes a number of different enemy types that have "exposed buttocks," including goblins, zombies, and, most notably, "mushroom men". Of course, a massive mushroom's bare arse wasn't the only cause, as the ESRB also includes suggestive language and realistic gunfire as reasoning for the rating. Even if you hated the game, at least it let us see the phrase "goblin loins" on the official ESRB website.
Gearbox has in fact made a bunch of announcements at this year's PAX East convention, including the reveal that a new Tales From the Borderlands game is currently in development. While it's not a direct sequel, the game will feature a bunch of new characters as Gearbox attempts to tell different stories from across the Borderlands universe. Neither a title nor a release date was announced, but Gearbox promised to reveal more in the summer and is planning to have the game released before the end of 2022.
