Division 2 has a tough end game with players tackling hostile mercenary forces to regain control of Washington D.C. and other areas. The most difficult mission in the game right now is the brutal raid Operation Dark Hours.

It’s a challenging raid that has players seizing control of an airport from Black Tusk forces before they can conduct a missile launch. So here are some general tips and strategies to keep in mind when taking down this terrifying threat to the future of the United States.

10 Get A Strong Team

This raid is designed for eight players and you should have eight players if you want to win. It should also go without saying you don’t want just any eight individuals. You want players who are committed to playing through and beating the mission and not the kind who bail mid-fight when the pizza cravings kick in.

Whether its friends in real-life or carefully selected individuals from a Division 2 forum, get a group of people you know are committed to seeing the raid through and willing to do their best.

9 Form Two Squads

Various aspects of the boss fights and mission mechanics require players performing different tasks to win the fight or continue onward. One of the best things you can do before going into the raid is deciding who is responsible for what.

An easy way to reinforce these different roles is two split the eight players into two squads, the damage dealers and the taskers. The damage dealers are in charge of taking out enemies and keeping the bosses aggroed, while the taskers will activate laptops, trigger in-game mechanics and so on. The raid necessitates this kind of grouping before the raid anyway so it’s best to establish those roles early and stick to them.

8 Skills/Talents To Have

In this raid when you die you stay dead because there is no respawn. So making sure a majority if not everybody on the team has healing abilities is very important. There is also a fight that involves a lot of drones that can cause serious problems, so having at least one person in charge of dishing out an EMP Pulse is going to be very helpful.

In addition to these skills, it’s also important to have talents that give you bonuses against elite soldiers because you will be fighting a lot of them in this raid.

7 Suit Up

Another important step to preparing for this raid is to make sure your gear is up to snuff, it’s highly recommended that your gear level is 500 across the board. It’s one of the toughest fights in the game right now so having the toughest gear is a requirement.

It’s also advised that your character is up to snuff as well, make sure you’re at level 30 and you’ve reached world tier 5, which means you’ve defeated all three strongholds. Lastly it’s helpful to have unlocked all the specializations in the game and be familiar with their use, this makes sure you can find a spot on a raid team and be able to fulfill a role they need.

6 Fighting The Boomer

Boomer is the first boss you’ll encounter in this raid. He’s a good litmus test for how prepared you are for the raid, if you can’t take him down your team needs some work. Boomer aggroes onto a single player so it’s important for that player to lead him through lines of fire and stay alive, it’s also important for that player to pay attention to a panel on his chest, if it turns green it means he’s about to heal so it needs to be shot.

That player should also never use a minigun as Boomer will destroy it and if both guns are broken it’s an automatic mission fail. There’s a shield protecting him that can be popped with the stationary miniguns and players can prevent its reactivation through the laptops in the center of the room. To damage Boomer players need to stun him by shooting his backpack until he kneels and then throw everything they got at him.

5 Gas Room Fight

In this room are three bosses, Dizzy, Ricochet, and Weasel. Here you’ll be carrying out four different activities so split into four teams of two. Three teams to fight the bosses and the fourth controls the gas and provide backup to struggling teams. There are three panels on each platform the bosses fight from when one turns green all three platforms need that panel activated.

There’s also a gas that will leak into the room that needs to be changed, purple gas lowers your team’s damage and orange raises it, so the fourth team needs to make sure it stays orange. Finally, you want to make sure to kill Dizzy and Ricochet almost at the same time, because once one of them falls Weasel becomes superpowered. When you face Weasel alone the gases alternate on their own so fight during orange, hide during purple.

4 Buddy & Lucy

Lucy and Buddy are two warhounds that can ruin your day very quickly. Lucy fights with a minigun that has a one-shot AOE where she charges up and fires her gun in a circle. Buddy keeps Lucy and itself alive with healing and sends out seeker mines. One squad should keep Lucy busy while the other takes out Buddy.

It’s important that their health bars drop simultaneously. If one becomes more damaged than the other both will Overcharge and fully heal. If this happens two players can blitz to the two laptops to try and stop it from happening, but it happens very quickly.

3 DDP-52 Razorback

The final boss of the game is a massive drone and missile truck that’s easily the most challenging fight of this raid. To start the fight four players must capture the four corners of the arena. Once captured the boss will activate and a large tower raises.

Once the tower is up red panels will activate which should be quickly shot, after they’re down a grenade needs to be tossed into each of the new openings. The boss responds by sending out a swarm of drones that the player with the EMP Pulse skill needs to handle quickly. This pattern is repeated four times.

2 Defend The Capture Zones

During the fight with the Razorback there are powerful elite units that will rush the players in the capture zones. The elites are trying to activate panels that will release missiles that instantly end the raid if they launch. So in addition to whittling down the boss players need to keep an eye on these rushes.

When the Razorback is a smoldering ruin the players need to quickly go to those panels and destroy them in order. If the players take too long or do it in the wrong order it’s an instant fail. But if they manage to destroy all four panels, the raid is won.

1 Why Do It?

Operation Dark Hours is a very difficult mission, especially for console players, and some may question the point of attempting it in the first place. The rewards for beating this raid are pieces of three exclusive gear sets unique to this raid, any loot that is dropped is guaranteed to be level 500, and there is a lot of currency awarded to players after the mission.

There’s also the satisfaction of knowing you beat the hardest mission in the game to date and the various trophy items you receive proving it.
