TMNT: Shredder's Revenge is out tomorrow but the reviews are already in. Metacritic is already reporting stellar scores, with our own Greg Foster giving Shredder’s Revenge a 4.5 out of five in our review. Even though the game hasn’t officially been released yet, critics are calling Shredder’s Revenge a triumphant homage to the classic arcade-style beat-’em-up gameplay of Turtles in Time. And it even has some asking developer Tribute Games what plans they might have for the future.Related: TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Developers On Casey Jones, Mirage Studios Turtles, And Game LengthSpeaking on the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast, narrative designer Yannick Belzil was asked whether Tribute has any DLC plans, suggesting that alternate outfits might be a good fit for Shredder’s Revenge. Belzil admitted that it wasn’t something they’ve really had time to think about.

"For alternate costumes, it really was not thought of during production because we're very proud of our animations, and the animations are really detailed, and they're filled with character," Belzil said. "They're really animated with minute details, which means that making them takes a long time."

Belzil continued with how neat it'd be if the Turtles could all have those trench coat disguises from the old cartoons, but also a ton of work. "That would take a whole lot of time, and especially with our animators – like, they'd want the trench coat to be flowing, and you'd want it to be dynamic.”

Belzil added that the team would prefer to "work on a newer playable character rather than create an alternate skin."

But if not Tribute, then perhaps publisher Dotemu will step in. Replying to IGN’s reporting, Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert offered some clarification: “There won’t be alternative costumes at launch and we don’t have DLC plans so far, but we never said ‘never’😉 It will depend on many factors like the game's reception and the ideas/feedback that the awesome community will send us."

So, don’t give up home just yet Turtle fans. Those trench coats could be right around the corner if Shredder’s Revenge sells.
