Tobey Maguire has admitted in a recent AMA on Reddit that he's seen the Bully Maguire memes, and that he's going to be keeping an eye on raimimemes in the future.
Yesterday, Damien Chazelle's Babylon started screening in the US and, to celebrate the occasion, Tobey Maguire took to Reddit to take part in an AMA (ask me anything). Although a decent number of the questions were regarding Babylon, fans of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man have basically been given an early Christmas presents with some of Maguire's responses.
One of the highest-rated comments comes from Tobey Maguire admitting that he's seen the infamous Bully Maguire memes based on Emo Peter Parker from Spider-Man 3. When asked about his thoughts on memes based on him, Maguire said, "Fairly neutral. I did see the Bully Maguire videos, which was a funny discovery."
That wasn't the only reference to Bully Maguire, either, as one fan asked what we've all been dying to know the answer to - can Maguire still do "the dance"? In response, Maguire said, "Every morning when I wake up. Just trying to capture the joy of this little guy". Although Maguire presumably doesn't actually do the dance every morning (fair play if he does), it's nice to see him playing along with the joke considering his relative silence on Spider-Man 3's reception over the years.
It seems likely that Maguire is going to keep seeing the Bully Maguire memes too, as he admitted in another answer that he keeps an eye on the raimimemes subreddit. After being recommended to check out the subreddit by a fan asking a question, Maguire commented that he would be checking it out in the future.
As you can imagine considering the whole subreddit is pretty much dedicated to Tobey Maguire and his role in Spider-Man, the reaction over there right now is like when a celebrity randomly visits one of the cinemas where their film is playing. Most of the posts over there right now are excited reactions to Maguire's comments, as well as more memes based on what he's said. It's pretty wholesome, honestly.
