It may have been some time since Tokyo Ghoul fans last saw poor Ken Kaneki get traumatized, but it looks like fans will have a brand new way to mess with the half-ghoul in a video game. Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist is an upcoming video game for PlayStation 4 and PC based on the popular horror manga and anime of the same name.

Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist is a third-person survival action game with content from both Tokyo Ghoul and its sequel Tokyo Ghoul: re. Taking place during the ongoing war between Ghouls and Investigators, players can choose which side to fight for in the game. Each character type will come with its own unique abilities and weapons.

On September 30, game developer and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment America streamed a trailer for the upcoming video game that previewed the playable characters and bosses. As the game tasks players with the choice of playing as either a Ghoul or an Investigator, the recent trailer introduced the playable Ghoul characters in the game. Users can play as ghouls Ken Kaneki, Shū Tsukiyama, Nishiki Nishio, Tōka Kirishima, Naki, Ayato Kirishima, and Seidō Takizawa, otherwise known as Owl. Boss characters will include Nutcracker, Noro, Shachi, Kanae, and One-Eyed Owl.

Players can also play with or against their friends through an online multiplayer mode. Ghouls and Investigators can battle against each other in teams of four to see who will eat or be eaten.

The game is set for a November 14 release in Japan and November 15 release in the west. Originally, the game was slated for a winter 2018 release date, but it was delayed due to concerns from developers about the game's quality. This marks the first game from the franchise to come to the west.

Tokyo Ghoul was serialized from 2011 to 2014. Its sequel, Tokyo Ghoul: re, continued from 2014-2018. An anime adaptation followed, receiving much acclaim. Tokyo Ghoul takes place in an alternate reality in which ghouls - creatures that appear human but survive on human flesh - exist and hide their true nature among others. The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who becomes a half-ghoul after a deadly encounter and must adapt to his new lifestyle and keep his secret from his human friends.

Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist will be available for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on November 15. It is currently available to pre-order for $59.99.
