The Tomb Raider series is known for many things, and Lara Croft’s quotes are among them. The games typically end in an epic, world-changing way, and though she doesn’t always have something to say, she makes an impact when she does. Whether her final quote is witty, angry, solemn, or hopeful, these quotes are always memorable. Sometimes her last words are short, and other times she's giving the performance of her life.

Out of all 12 games, eight of them have final quotes that perfectly tie the story together. But some are definitely more impactful than others. Here are eight of Lara Croft’s final quotes ranked.

There are spoilers for eight of the Tomb Raider games below

8 Tomb Raider: Anniversary - No, I Haven’t

Though Tomb Raider I and Tomb Raider: Anniversary share the same endings, Lara doesn’t have a quote to end the story in the original game. Anniversary slightly makes up for this with its own quote.

Unlike in Tomb Raider I, Lara has much more dialogue with Natla during the final boss. Just before taking her down and escaping, Natla says, “This island is just one remnant of Atlantis. I will find another. But you. You have lost everything.” After finally defeating the Atlantean god, Lara retorts with “No, I haven’t” before escaping the ruins. Though Lara gets the last word, it’s so delayed for a dramatic effect that by the time you hear it, you may not even realize what she’s responding to.

7 Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation - Good To See You Again, Werner

You’ve just fought and successfully entombed an Egyptian god, and now the pyramid you’re attempting to escape is falling apart. Standing in the doorway of the pyramid’s exit is the shadowy figure of Werner VonCroy, Lara’s ex-mentor and the primary antagonist of the game.

VonCroy extends his hand, telling Lara he’ll pull her to safety. Lara responds by saying “Good to see you again, Werner,” and the scene ends with the pyramid collapsing on top of her. It’s not clear whether she’s being sarcastic or serious, and it’s sort of a strange thing to say given everything he’s done. But knowing what happens in the following games shows that this was likely intentional.

6 Tomb Raider: Underworld - Goodbye, Mother

After a long journey of trying to find her mother and traveling to the underworld with Thor’s equipment, Lara has come to the somber realization that her mother died a long time ago. It’s a sad ending that offers some closure for the end of the trilogy, but perhaps there could have been more here.

In contrast to Tomb Raider: Legend, Lara barely gives Amanda the time of day, and she instead accepts the tragic situation for what it is. Later there’s an alternative ending where Amanda tries to kill Lara with a large rock. Lara shoots her in the leg, leaving her in a snow storm, but this time she has nothing to say.

5 Tomb Raider II - Don’t You Think You’ve Seen Enough?

The game already has one of the best endings in the series, so it's no surprise its final quote is memorable. After fighting off home invaders in Croft Manor, Lara gets ready to take a shower. Before untying her robe, she looks at the camera, breaking the fourth wall, and says “Don’t you think you’ve seen enough?” She then shoots the camera with a shotgun and the game rolls to credits.

Although it’s a funny way to end the game, it’s definitely not as meaningful as others. But given that you think the journey is over before the “Home Sweet Home” segment begins, it’s a fitting end to her story.

4 Tomb Raider (2013) - I Need To Find Answers

After a long and traumatic experience in Yamatai, Lara is forced to acknowledge that the supernatural occurrences she witnessed are not myths but reality. As she’s finally able to safely take a boat away from the island, she reminisces on her journey and decides that she needs to find answers.

After years of disregarding her father’s ideas and being a skeptic, she now has to face that her father was correct all along. She came to the island on an archaeological expedition and is leaving as the Tomb Raider. She closes the game by saying "I need to find answers. I must understand."

3 Shadow Of The Tomb Raider - I’m Done Searching

Shadow of the Tomb Raider ends the second reboot trilogy. Lara has been on quite a journey in the trilogy, facing her greatest challenge in this very game. By the end of the game, she finally comes to terms with her past, ready to spend her time "with the living," enjoying life, rather than exploring tombs.

She is forced to recognize that tomb raiding can sometimes cause more harm than good. And Lara seemingly settles into a persona more closely aligned with previous versions of Croft. Overall, it’s a satisfying end to the trilogy.

2 Rise Of The Tomb Raider - I Can Make The Right Difference

Lara learns from her experiences in each game. Rise of the Tomb Raider takes place right after the tragic events in Yamatai, and Lara is struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Despite this, she's hungry to know about her father’s past and what role Trinity plays in it.

Once the story commences, Lara receives some level of closure. However, it's not significant enough, and she quickly prepares for her next expedition. But in contrast to the beginning of the game, Lara decides that she needs to make her own choices and strive to make a difference in the world. Ultimately, she realizes that her father’s intentions don’t impact her future decisions.

1 Tomb Raider: Legend - Your Every Breath Is A Gift From Me

This final quote is what makes Keeley Hawes one of the best actresses to voice Lara Croft. The emotion and tension are palpable. It’s the first time Lara truly expresses anger in the series.

After spending the game traveling around the globe in search of answers about her missing mother, Lara is frustrated and determined to know the truth. This quote and its delivery showcase how desperate Lara is for answers and what she’s willing to do to get them. Lara threatens Amanda, scaring her into providing answers, delivering the famous "Where is my mother?!" quote as she fires her gun between each word. It's the perfect segue into Tomb Raider: Underworld.
