Legendary professional skateboarder Tony Hawk recently revealed which entry from his iconic video game series he thinks is the best. Through a new messaging system that allows fans to text the skateboarder, Hawk revealed to a fan that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is his all-time favorite game from the collection.

Hawk certainly had plenty of options to choose from considering the franchise's continued success from the late '90s up until the mid-to-late 2000s. The first four Pro Skaters are widely considered to be classics, and even when the franchise pivoted towards the more story-centered, culture-focused Underground games, it was still excellent. The Tony Hawk series has established itself as a milestone in the timeline of video games, and which game the skateboarding legend enjoyed the most had been a longstanding unanswered question.

It's clear to see why Hawk chose Pro Skater 2, though. After the original entry in the series gave fans an exciting new way to play as their favorite pro skaters, the sequel was able to further polish that idea. With iconic maps like Hangar, School II, Venice, and Philadelphia, as well as a classic soundtrack featuring Anthrax, Bad Religion, and Rage Against The Machine, it's no wonder why fans went just as crazy for this game as they did for the original. Not to mention the fact that it was pretty damn cool that Spider-Man was available as an unlockable character.

Unfortunately, we haven't heard too much from the Tony Hawk series of late, especially following the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 in 2015, which received a fair amount of negative reviews from critics. That being said, the nostalgia is certainly there and there is plenty of room for the franchise to make a comeback at some point in time. Could that possibly happen with Tony Hawk games coming to the Nintendo Switch's handheld platform? It's uncertain, but fans certainly hope so.

At the end of the day, it's pretty cool that Tony Hawk is giving fans a direct way to communicate with him, although it's unlikely that he'll be responding to each and every message. We now know which Tony Hawk game is most beloved by Hawk himself though, which is hopefully shedding a new light on the classic sequel in Pro Skater 2 that can sometimes be overshadowed by its predecessor.
