The world of gaming was rocked today by the news that famed YouTube personality John Bain, better known as TotalBiscuit, The Cynical Brit, has taken a turn for the worst in his battle with cancer.

TotalBiscuit revealed in a Twitter post that his recent spout of back pain is due to the spread of his disease, which is putting pressure on his spine. He later confirmed that this meant that chemotherapy was no longer an option and that he was undergoing a clinical trial that he was eligible for.

TotalBiscuit has maintained that he intends to keep fighting and that he hasn't lost hope while there are still options available to him.

John Bain started out in the industry while working on a popular World of Warcraft fan station, called WoW Radio. He went on to create his own website, called Cynicalbrit.com, where he discussed other gaming topics.

TotalBiscuit would go on to become a popular YouTube personality and streamer, where he became famous for his frank discussions about the video game industry, as well as for his coverage of Starcraft 2 and games like XCOM 2. His YouTube channel has over two million subscribers as of the time of writing.

TotalBiscuit revealed his initial cancer diagnosis in 2014, which was later discovered to be bowel cancer. The initial treatment was successful and it was believed that all traces of the disease had been removed. It was later discovered that the cancer had metastasized to his liver, which required a whole new set of treatments. These were initially believed to have been successful, but the disease has repeatedly returned.

TotalBiscuit has continued to produce content throughout his treatment and has repeatedly stated his determination to beat his cancer and how his passion for video games has not been diminished. He has discussed in-depth the details of his treatment on the H3 Podcast.

All of us here at The Gamer would like to express our admiration for John Bain and to let him know that he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.
