Whenever you interact with a supply pod or treasure chest in Tower of Fantasy, it has a chance to spawn a blue hologram of the mysterious doll-maker, Dr. Claire. When you click on it, you can choose to enter the Dream Machine and play a random, timed mini-game. A primary goal and a series of bonus objectives will be displayed on your screen.

Challenges range from two to five minutes long, and as long as you complete the challenge, you’ll receive rewards like black nuclei, weapon boosters, equipment boxes, or gold. But by solving the mini-game within the time limit and also completing one or more of its bonus objectives, you’ll get even better rewards. Here’s a rundown of the seven mini-games in Claire’s Dream Machine, ranked from easiest to hardest.

7 Memory Challenge

The Memory Challenge is a simple matching game that takes place in a large room with eye icons on the floor. Click an eye to spawn a hologram of a creature, and find its match by clicking more eyes. You win the game by activating all the matching pairs within the five-minute time limit and receive bonus rewards by finishing the game faster. If you want to aim for bonus objectives, try using your dash ability to quickly move from one eye to another.

6 Collecting Challenge

The Collecting Challenge puts you into a 2D side-scroller where you’ll only be able to run, jump, and double jump. You’ll have three minutes to collect glowing rift energy orbs and reach your destination while dodging obstacles and making challenging jumps along the way.

This challenge isn’t too difficult, to begin with, but once you get the hang of the side-scrolling movement, try to collect all the rift energy and earn the bonus rewards. If you make it to the end and haven’t collected all the orbs, go back and get the rest—there’s no bonus for reaching the goal faster.

5 Energy Harvest Challenge

Entering the Energy Harvest Challenge puts you in a small room, and colorful orbs will begin to fall from the ceiling. Collecting blue and purple orbs gives you points, green orbs increase your movement speed, and gold orbs temporarily increase the number of orbs in the room. Simply hop around the room and pick up as many orbs as you can—the faster you earn 300 points, the better your rewards will be. But watch out for the snowflake orbs! Those will freeze you in place for a few seconds.

4 Survival Challenge

Fighting enemies in the Tower of Fantasy Survival Challenge

In the Survival Challenge, you only have one goal: survive. You’re placed in an arena-like room with doors that spawn waves of enemies. Your goal is to defeat them as fast as possible and stay alive for three minutes. You’ll get a reward as long as you don’t die, but the more enemies you kill, the better your prize will be. While the Survival Challenge can be moderately difficult for new players, upgrading your weapons a bit makes this mini-game a breeze. If you’re new to the game and find yourself struggling with this one, try killing the smaller enemies with fewer hit points, then move on to the larger and more powerful foes.

3 Power Challenge

The Power Challenge puts you up against a powerful boss and gives you five minutes to defeat them. While the exact difficulty level of this challenge depends on the type of boss you get, the weapons you have at your disposal, and how much you’ve upgraded them, none of the encounters are overly hard.

In fact, if you’ve taken the time to investigate ruins or kill a world boss or two, you’ll have seen these bosses before and should be able to anticipate their moves. To give yourself an advantage in these fights, always have your best weapons equipped before heading into the Dream Machine.

2 Control Challenge

Coming up on a jump in the Tower of Fantasy Control Challenge

After entering the Control Challenge, you’ll be asked to complete a moderately difficult jumping puzzle where you’ll have to scale a series of boxes—some moving or floating—to reach a destination within the time limit. Because you only have access to your movement abilities, you can’t cheese this one with the jetpack relic, and if you fall, you have to start over from the beginning. The faster you get to the goal, the better your rewards will be. But if you fall too many times and still want a shot at the bonus rewards, simply exit the Dream Machine and re-enter it to start again with the full amount of time.

1 Maze Challenge

The Maze Challenge puts you into a large area covered in identical-looking terrain. You have to gather at least eight rift energy orbs before the time expires, but in this labyrinth of dead-ends and hallways that circle back on themselves, earning bonus rewards isn’t easy! You’ll also have to do some puzzle-solving in the process—some of the orbs are hidden behind an energy shield, requiring you to find creative ways to get through.
