Here's a Dr. Seuss rhyme we never thought we would say today: Twitch has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch. It's live for all Switch users now, and you can download it from the Nintendo eShop for free.

The Twitch app works in mostly the same way it would on your phone or any other device. It has the home tab, with recommended videos for you to watch, the browse option, which is there to help you find streams by game or category, and the search tab, so you can look up your favorite streamers. Unfortunately, the main change is that you won't be able to use the app to broadcast your gameplay directly from the Switch.

Some of the other differences you'll notice is that you won't be able to see the stream's chat on the Switch's screen or on the TV when it's docked, unless the streamer sets up their stream in such a way that the comments will flood in on the corner of their screen. However, you'll be able to see the chat room on your phone when you scan a QR code.

For some reason, we're not able to take our own screenshots of the Twitch app's layout to show what it looks like, but Nintendo provided a few examples on its web page. Here's what its Twitch profile looks like when you see it on the Switch.

On the bright side, you won't have to spend too much energy mashing buttons on a Switch controller to sign into the Twitch app, which is especially relieving since a lot of people deal with Joy-Con drift. The app gives you two ways to sign in: scanning the QR code on your phone or entering an eight-digit code on the screen at https://www.twitch.tv/activate.

The inability to stream Switch games through the Twitch app may be a headache for some streamers, seeking to change the way they broadcast their gameplay. Streamers will instead have to stick with capture cards, connected to a PC. Besides, even if it could stream, Nintendo won't be putting a camera on the Switch or its OLED counterpart anytime soon.
