Popular streamer Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo is teaming up with Grant “GriZ” Kwiecinski to fundraise during a four-hour stream for the Trevor Project, which is currently the largest global suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth. The announcement came via Twitter letting fans know that the event will take place on Twitch this September 16 at 4PM PST.

If the event is anything like DrLupo’s previous stream in 2018, a great deal of money should be raised in a short amount of time. DrLupo shattered previous records for fundraising when me raised $920,000 in only four and a half hours for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works to assist children that suffer from terminal illnesses.

The Trevor Project is an American non-profit organization first founded in 1998 with its major focus on suicide prevention efforts among the LGBTQ+ youth. The organization offers a toll-free number to the Trevor Lifeline, which is a confidential service that offers trained counselors.

There was another recent fundraising effort for the Trevor Project in the form of a 72-hour Twitch broadcast by Dominique "SonicFox" McLean. SonicFox is most well-known within the Fighting Game Community as a competitor of Mortal Kombat 11 and Dragon Ball FighterZ, having recently won first place at Evo 2019. He describes himself as a Black Queer Furry and has been open and vocal about his support for such organizations as the Trevor Project. At the end of his stream, he had raised over $20,000.

Considering the difference in popularity and awareness between the two streamers, we hope that DrLupo and GRiZ shatter that number into oblivion to reach a similar level to that raised for St Judes. As expected, the pair will be playing Fortnite together during the stream. Like last time, there are likely going to be a number of donations milestones that directly affect how the pair will play.

For example, once a certain amount of money has been donated, DrLupo may need to drop all of his crafting materials, or his weapons, or both and still attempt to win the match. The $500,000 charity milestone was particularly entertaining for fans as DrLupo’s real-life wife, known only online as MrsDrLupo, committed to playing a scary game, which she hates, but would do for a good cause.

Similar goals have not yet been outlined for the steam this upcoming September 16, but we can likely expect something similar.

Best of luck to the pair, as this is a fantastic cause they are raising funds for. Donations to the Trevor Project can be made by clicking here.
