Ubisoft, which is celebrating the fourth anniversary of For Honor, has announced a collaboration with Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight, the critically acclaimed 2014 2D side-scrolling platformer. The crossover event will add Shovel Knight-themed outfits, emotes, and executions to Ubisoft’s bestselling 2017 action game.
The three Shovel Knight outfits, which include ornaments, mood effects and symbols will cost 15,000 to 20,000 Steel each, while the Shovel Drop Emote will cost 10,000 Steel. The cosmetics, animations and outfitswhich will be available until March 4 in For Honor.
Shovel Knight along with other characters from the game has been featured in other games, such as Cook, Serve, Delicious: Battle Kitchen, Road Redemption, Rivals of Aether, Brawlhalla, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Knight, Crypt of the NecroDancer, Yooka-Laylee, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
For Honor, which is played from a third-person perspective, allows players to take on the roles of soldiers and warriors, including Knights, Samurai, Vikings and the Chinese Wu Lin. The action, which takes place in a medieval, fantasy setting, has players battle their opponents using class-specific mêlée weapons.
Inspired by shooter games, For Honor was Ubisoft's first attempt at developing a strategy-action game. The game, which was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PS4, and Xbox One on February 14, 2017, ranked seventh worldwide in digital sales of console games during its launch month.
Meanwhile, Shovel Knight was developed after a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The game, which was released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in June 2014, was inspired by gameplay and graphics of platformer games developed for the NES. On August 28, 2019, a spin-off sequel titled Shovel Knight Dig, which will be developed by British studio Nitrome and presumably released this year, was announced.
Following the Shovel Knight crossover event, For Honor's Year of the Covenants begins on March 11. Ubisoft will reveal details for Year 5 Season 1 content soon, though four themed seasons with new customization items, two new Heroes, in-game events, and a Battle Pass for each season, are expected for this year. One of the new Heroes will be included in Year 5 Season 2, while the other will be added to Season 4.
