Running a successful school in Two Point Campus involves providing the best education and facilities. However, there's no reason why your students shouldn't play as hard as they work. Keeping students happy can be tough, but one of the simplest ways to do this is to build student friendships.

Building student friendships is actually essential when running a campus since it affects students' happiness, which consequently affects their grades. Academic performance can also affect your income and keeping students happy is your best bet at avoiding dropouts. Building student friendships is also one of the cheapest ways to improve student happiness, so it should be a priority early on.

How Do Student Friendships Work?

While students wander across the campus, they can randomly stop by other students and begin socialising. This will develop into either a romantic relationship or, more commonly, a student friendship. As two students socialise more, they'll begin to deepen their relationship and their friendship level will go up, further improving their overall mood.

Friendship levels move from Level 1 (Friends), Level 2, (Good Friends), Level 3 (Best Friends), and Level 4 (Giga Chums). Student happiness improves more when friendships are at higher levels. However, bumping into other students in the hallway isn't the ideal scenario to form friendships, and friendship levels won't improve this way.

After initiating a friendship, students will need to use social items, like a park bench, to continue improving their friendship level. You can check which items will improve friendships in their description box before you buy. Each social item will also have an assigned level that will affect which students can use them. For example, students at friendship level 1 will only be able to socialise on level 1 items until their relationship levels up. Make sure you decorate your campus with level 1 items first, so friendships can level up enough to use better items.

You can see a breakdown of your school's relationships in the Campus Overview. Head to the Student Overview section and click on the relationships tab. On this page, you'll be able to see how many friendships have been formed between students and what level these friendships are at. You'll also be able to see how satisfied students are with the relationships in their life on the Status Distribution tab. If too many of your students are in the red, you'll need to invest in relationship items.

Tips For Building Student Friendships:

Two Point Campus Student Overview

As you can see, building student friendships mostly relies on the items that you place around your campus, but there are many ways to maximise their effectiveness.

Many relationship items double up and contribute to your campus in other ways. For example, the water cooler is a relationship item, and it also keeps students hydrated, making it multi-functional. A bench press is a similar item since it develops student friendships and contributes to their health. This is a great way to satisfy students' needs without taking up extra space.

Another tip is to place relationship items in spaces that students will gravitate toward. Students will spend their free time in Student Lounges and Unions, so maximise those rooms. Holding events like a SU Party incentivizes students to move into these rooms too. Every corridor on your campus should be able to fit either a water cooler or an indoor bench, or both. And if you have a lot of outdoor kiosks or clubs, place several social tables around the area to create a social hub of sorts. Students going to the kiosks for hunger and thirst might stay and congregate around these relationship items.
