Two Point Campus allows you to take control of your very own university. Choose the courses, the building layout, the staff, and the facilities. You can even micromanage both your faculty and students to get the best out of them. With so many things to deal with, finding the right course and planning what you'll need to run it successfully can be tricky.

This guide looks at Scientography, one of the first courses you'll come across in career mode and an option with fewer requirements than others. We take a look at the resources you'll need and the best way to offer a Scientography course students will want to enroll on.

What Is Scientography?

TPC lecture in progress lecturer view

Scientography is the game's version of regular science. It just adds extra smoke and some interesting interactions. If you run this course you'll attract neutral, swot, posho, goth, rebel, and class clown type students.

This course requires only two types of room, lecture theatres, and science labs. You'll need more of each room type and extra Scientography teachers as students progress through the course, as well as if you upgrade it. Your teachers will also require a staff room to rest.

As with all courses, students will also need basic facilities including a toilet, shower, bed (between five), library, and some form of entertainment, as well as access to food and drink. To fully equip your students you'll also need pastoral support, a first aid office, private tuition, and extra forms of entertainment.

Every course has ten different levels, with student intake increasing by five with each additional level. A level one course takes just ten students, but this rises to 55 at level ten.

The course defaults to accepting the maximum number of students and has a course fee of $9000. You can adjust these settings to take less students and charge more if you wish.

Accepting fewer students than the maximum means that you will get smarter students who are less likely to fail. However, on most levels, money is generated by tuition fees. As a result, fewer students means a lower income. To offset this you can increase fees, but you'll need to make sure your course and university are well run enough to justify the higher cost.

Course fees and student numbers can be tricky to balance, so we recommend keeping these on the default settings, to begin with.

As mentioned, there are ten levels in total and each one requires a different number of rooms, and teachers. This chart details the requirements for year one of each level of the course. You'll notice that most increases in core facilities occur every two to three levels.

Increases also apply based on the number of students on your campus. When running one low-level course you can progress students to the second year and run a first-year course alongside it with no adjustments. However, as soon as you hit year three, you'll need an extra room of both types and another teacher to account for now having thirty students across three years. This is on top of the basic requirements laid out above. Higher level courses require more facilities faster.

Level Ten Course Requirements

The first year will require two lecture theatres, three science labs, and four teachers.

The second year will require four lecture theatres, four science labs, and seven teachers.

The third year will require five lecture theatres, six science labs, and eleven teachers.

If you are running on a budget then it's advisable to keep to the lower end of the course levels until your campus is more established. Growing too fast is one of the easiest ways to go bankrupt. Keep rooms small and sparse, to begin with and expand later.

Scientography Course Equipment Required

TPC quiet library

It's not just the rooms you'll need but also extra equipment. When this is needed tends to vary a little but anything you don't have students will prompt you to purchase at the time it's required. Higher-level courses will require more expensive items sooner.

Some items are unlocked with Kudosh and some are available to purchase straight away.

Below is the equipment you'll need for each room, the cost, and the Kudosh amount needed to unlock it. Only the subject-specific rooms require extra equipment. However, items such as extra vending machines can be useful for keeping student happiness high and are worth unlocking early.

The minimum cost of setting up a science lab is $18,200 which includes the science board and science hub. These are the extra items required.

There are no extra items required for the lecture theatre. However, you can use 75 Kudosh to unlock an autocue which adds four percent learning power for $4,000. Alternatively, 75 Kudosh also unlocks Surround Sound, increasing learning power by three percent for $4,000.

Lecture theatre lecterns can be upgraded, as can the science hub. However, you'll need to research the upgrades and then hire a janitor with the upgrade skill to do this. Once the upgrades have been researched they remain unlocked for the duration of your career, even through campus' changes. The upgrades cost $15,000 for level two and $30,000 for level three.

Tips For Running A Scientography Course

Scientography is a great beginner course as the requirements are low and the facilities relatively inexpensive to build. Here are a couple of quick tips to get the most out of the course.

  • Training teachers to level two or three will help students learn faster and be less likely to fail.
  • Having a private tuition room is a great backup plan for failing students, especially if you have a teacher with private tuition training.
  • Placing vending machines in groups of two with a bin and a couple of picnic tables frequently helps keep students fed and watered.
  • It's a good idea to place items relevant to the students you'll attract. For example, clowns like the clown makeup table, poshos like the hat stand, and goths like the candles.
  • Placing small bathrooms and showers in more locations means they are more likely to be used.
  • Pastoral support can help prevent students from dropping out.
