In Two Point Campus, you are allowed to choose everything you could want for your university site, from its location to its decoration. Naturally, you can also choose which courses your students will enroll in, which will greatly impact how you build your campus and what facilities you make available to your student body.

The game has many humourous and exciting course options: you might find yourself fending off invaders in Knights' School or cooking inconveniently large foods in Gastronomy. Here, though, we'll be taking a close look at the Virtual Normality course, going through everything you need to know to bring the best possible education to your students and achieve those elusive A+ grades.

What Is Virtual Normality?

Two Point Campus - screenshot of Virtual Normality Course Details

Virtual Normality is, in essence, a course that teaches students about VR technology and its many applications - these range from lofty pursuits such as exploring new worlds to more mundane tasks like learning how to tie your shoes. From a gameplay standpoint, this means that you'll be doing a lot of watching students wobbling around in VR headsets - although you can be assured that they're having a great time.

After Scientography, Virtual Normality is the second course you unlock in Two Point Campus. Because of this, it's a relatively easy course to bring to your campus, requiring few resources and being forgiving for your student learners. Once you understand what is required to run a successful Virtual Normality course, you should be able to maintain good grades without too much trouble.

As well as the required rooms, you'll also need to employ staff who can work in them. This mostly means hiring qualified teachers in Virtual Normality, although you'll also need an Assistant qualified in Library Work to run each Library you build.

The only fundamental requirements for a Virtual Normality course are a Lecture Theatre and a VR Lab. However, your students will also need a Library to study in, which will need various pieces of kit added to it for their assignments. Below, we'll go into more detail about precisely what is required for each course level.

The Virtual Normality course runs as a series of lectures in the Lecture Hall and classes in the VR Lab, with students studying in their spare time at the Library. During the Summer Break before the start of each academic year, the game will tell you exactly how many of these are required for your courses.

Pay attention before you start a new year and make sure that you have enough provision for your students, or else you risk having them fail or drop out entirely. Building requirements start out very low for Year One of Virtual Normality but increase steadily as you progress from Course Level One to Level Ten. Here are the Year One requirements for each level:

You can change the number of students on the course, which will result in having fewer students but with higher academic potential, but this is not recommended: not only will enrolling fewer students be a massive hit to your annual revenue, but Virtual Normality is a relatively easy course to pass.

So the student number reductions shouldn't be necessary unless you're in exceptional circumstances. That said, course requirements will increase very quickly as your students progress through the three years of the Virtual Normality course.

Year Two and Three students have much greater base requirements than Year One students, and you will also be enrolling new Year One cohorts beneath your older students, whose needs will also need to be catered for. It is very easy to let this snowball out of control, so be very careful if you have plans to expand your course offering.

Stick to low course levels unless you're absolutely certain that you have enough money, staff, and space to facilitate a level increase. If you end up biting off more than you can chew, you will end up jeopardising your campus very quickly!

Virtual Normality Course Equipment Required

At the very least, you'll need these buildings to get your Virtual Normality course up and running:

As your students progress through their Virtual Normality studies, they will need more facilities at their disposal. In addition to buildings and teachers, students will sometimes need access to special equipment pieces so that they can complete various Assignments.

Planning for every possible assignment might sound like a headache, but the game makes it easier in two ways: firstly, Assignments don't occur until Year Two of the course. Secondly, students will tell you when they need certain equipment, so as long as you keep an eye on your inbox, you won't be caught off-guard.

This new equipment can be purchased with regular currency, although some pieces will also require Kudosh to buy. Kudosh is a currency used to unlock new items and is primarily obtained by completing achievement missions.

No extra items are ever required for the Lecture Theatre. However, to kit out your VR Lab to be as accommodating as possible, you'll need each of these items at some point:

Tips For Running A Virtual Normality Course

  • Virtual Normality attracts students of these types: Swot, Neutral, Class Clown, Posho, Goth, and Rebel. You can make your students happier by placing items that appeal to these student types, such as the Clown Dresser, Fancy Hatstand, or the Gothic Bookcase.
  • On the subject of student happiness, it's worth noting that happier students are more studious, so it's worth meeting their demands by building Student Lounges, a Student Union, and putting on regular Events. In an exact parallel to real-life university, students who party harder get better grades.
  • If your students are flagging in their studies, build a Private Tuition room and employ an extra teacher to staff it. This way, struggling students can get extra help when they need it.
  • Although your Lecture Theatres don't need any additional equipment for a Virtual Normality course, you can upgrade your lecterns for a small price which will increase the quality of teaching that they provide. You'll need to employ a Janitor trained in Mechanics, and you'll also need to research the relevant upgrades in your Research Lab.
