A recent job listing from Ubisoft Barcelona reveals work continues on the long-anticipated Beyond Good & Evil 2, which is described as one of the company's "most ambitious projects to date."It's been a while since we last heard of Beyond Good & Evil's prequel, officially re-announced in 2016. Since then, we got a couple of spectacular CGI trailers and a taste of what the studio hopes to achieve with BGE2 — only for the project to go dark for several years. Back in February, reports revealed the game is still in the pre-production phase and hasn't been canceled, and now we have a more concrete confirmation.Related: Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Just Reminds Me We Don't Have Beyond Good And Evil 2 YetUbisoft Barcelona opened a new position for a senior gameplay animator for Beyond Good & Evil 2, suggesting work is still progressing. According to the description, the specialist would be "responsible for the quality and content of the animations and the functionality of the gameplay systems, in line with the game's vision." What's more, the prequel is referred to as "one of the most ambitious projects to date," which isn't that hard to believe considering the amount of time and money Ubisoft has already poured into the game.

Not much else can be squeezed from the job listing to reassure Beyond Good & Evil fans that everything is going smoothly. The studio wants to achieve "high-quality animations, believable performances," and strike "the best balance between animation fidelity and gameplay needs." Another interesting hint we got is the required ability to "animate the human form, giving the character weight, personality, mood, and believability."

Ubisoft last provided an official update on Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2020, claiming the title was entering "full production." It is possible the development of the game has been restarted after its lead developer, Michel Ancel, left the gaming industry shortly before being accused of abuse. He also stated that his departure would not affect the game's progress, which remains to be seen.
