Earlier this year, a blog post on the game's official website revealed that Rainbow Six Extraction would be launching on January 20. Nothing has been said since - it was likely a blunder - but today Ubisoft confirmed that January 20 is right.

Along with that, there's new footage and an updated price tag. It will now cost $39.99 instead of the previous $60. What's more, friends play for free - you can invite two mates to try the game on any platform for up to two weeks.

The deluxe edition, which comes with three exclusive bonus packs, is $49.99. If you pre-order, you'll get the Orbital Decay bundle which is a space-themed, retro-futuristic pack complete with a holographic-looking planet keyring. It even has a moon. If you play Extraction and Siege, you'll also get the United Front bundle which gives you four exclusive gear sets across both titles.

Ubisoft also promises free post-launch updates and content, sticking to the live-service model that Siege has been revelling in since it launched.

If you don't know, Extraction is the same game as the previously titled Quarantine. It was changed to be more sensitive because of the pandemic - it was coined before COVID-19 put most of the world into actual quarantines.

The game itself is a lot different to Siege - it sees three teams of operators sent to contaminated zones to complete objectives, fighting alien-infected enemies before extracting. It's set to have 18 operators on launch, but they'll all be in fitting biohazard suits. If you're interested, pre-orders are live right now.
