The Division 2’s update has been delayed after Ubisoft discovered a “critical issue”, but the servers are back up with the 6.1 patch installed.
Division 2’s 6.1 was scheduled to arrive today, December 10th, at around 12:30 AM. The update would bring the new Christmas-related content as well as the promised Hardcore Mode, with the servers being down for roughly four hours so the new content could install. However, the servers were down for a little bit longer than anticipated.
Ubisoft tweeted out that a “critical issue” had been identified and forced them to keep the servers down while they tried to get it fixed.
“Agents, we have to extend the maintenance for approximately 2 hours,” Ubisoft wrote on Twitter. “When testing the patch we found a critical issue that we need to fix before the servers can come back up.
The anticipated return of functionality was around 12:30 PM EST, but luckily, those Ubisoft techs were able to work fast and get the servers back up at around 11:45 AM EST. The servers are up now with the new content, and you should just need to patch the client before logging back in.
So what does the new patch bring? We covered that in our last article, but we know you’re too lazy to click back so here’s a rundown.
First, there’s the new Christmas event, Situation: Snowball. Random baddies are running around with Santa Hats talking smack. It’s up to you to use your snowball gun (which is a Tommy Gun that shoots snowballs, obv) to shut ‘em up using snow compacted into a projectile and fired at high velocity.
There’s also the new apparel called Silent Night, and although not specifically Christmas-themed, it’s still really cool. Consider it black and grey-colored urban camo and tactical gear with an emphasis on stealth.
Finally, Harcore Mode brings permadeath to Division 2. This doesn’t sound like a great idea, but players wanted an Ironman mode, so here it is. Ubisoft recommends playing this mode in co-op to increase your chances of survival.
The patch is now live, so head back to the Capital to make the world a better place.
