There's a closed beta for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint this weekend, and playing it will help a great cause. Aside from testing the server and helping Ubisoft improve the game, this beta will also help children. The more players revive one another when downed, the more money Ubisoft will donate to a children's charity.

This was one of several Ubisoft announcements this week. While we knew about the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta for some time, we just learned that those with a UPLAY+ subscription will get automatic access to it and other Ubisoft betas. Furthermore, UPLAY+ is actually available on PC now. Those who sign up now get a free month trial to the service, essentially meaning that anyone with a PC and a desire to can take part in the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta. The beta will happen from September 5th to the 8th.

As for what the beta will contain, Ubisoft said that players will have several provinces on the island of Auroa available to them. Participants can explore freely by themselves or with a team of up to four friends. Some story missions will be accessible, as well as side missions. There's also Faction Missions that change every day. Drone Areas will also be open, letting players battle everything from small flying drones to self-driving tanks with ridiculous firepower. The final component is Man Down, and that's where the charity comes in.

Man Down is being called a "special in-game charity event." According to Ubisoft, players can participate by "teaming up in co-op and helping their teammates by reviving them when they are down." As more players participate and revive one another, Ubisoft will donate an increasing amount of money to charity. The charity of choice is Child's Play, an organization that focuses on giving toys and games to children in hospitals.

It's not too late to claim a spot in the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta. One can get in by pre-ordering the game, subscribing to UPLAY+, or signing up on this page. For some early impressions based on our E3 time with the game, click here.
