The research that RAVE Reviews conducted was specific to Twitter. They used a research tool called SentiStrength to assess over a million brand-related tweets for positive or negative content, after putting together a list of the biggest global gaming, fast food, tech brands, and ISPs within the UK and US. Once they collected this data, they calculated the percentage of negative tweets and ranked the brands by location and category to find the most hated brands in every country.

They organized the results of most hated brands into four major categories: biggest global brands overall, gaming, fast food, and big tech. They also providers charts to show the data collected strictly from the US or the UK, while also breaking the US results down into individual states.
