Ubisoft has announced an all-new way to play Monopoly called Monopoly Madness, coming to all major platforms later this year.

While there are countless board games out there for you, friends, and family to gather around, play, and argue over on a rainy Friday night, there's one that is more famous than any other. That is, of course, Monopoly. Speaking of arguing, we'd also hazard to guess Monopoly has sparked more board game-fueled arguments than any of its rivals over the years.

A lot of those arguments have likely hinged on how long a game of Monopoly tends to take. Four hours in, perhaps after you have landed on someone's Park Lane hotel for the third time, tensions can run pretty high. Ubisoft has come up with a solution to that in the form of Monopoly Madness. An all-new take on the board game coming to PC, consoles, and Stadia on December 9, 2021.

Monopoly Madness is a far more frantic take on the original game, as its name implies. The board game's wealthy mascot Mr. Monopoly has taken a well-earned vacation. The residents of Monopoly City have taken advantage of that, choosing to bend the rules of the game and effectively play Monopoly in a completely new way.

While regular Monopoly is all about acquiring property and slowly bankrupting your rivals, Monopoly Madness is a fast-paced race to the finish. Buying property, the very core of Monopoly, is still your focus. Moving around the board will get you money and resources, allowing you to acquire more property and upgrade it, as you would in a regular game of Monopoly. Rather than hoping others land on your properties, buying and upgrading them will earn you points and move you closer to the finish line.

As well as money and resources, players can also find things like bulldozers and jackhammers. Those items can be used to destroy other people's properties, thus moving them backwards in their quest to win the game. Up to six people can play at one time and they will have 20 characters based on the original Monopoly game pieces to choose from. Monopoly Madness launches on all major platforms December 9, 2021.
