Ubisoft has announced a new co-op shooter. Well, maybe “announced” is a strong word, since there hasn’t been any official announcement. There’s no press release or blog update or Twitter post telling us what the heck Project U actually is. But a new website popped up overnight that gives us a few clues.
"We have been exploring a new concept of session-based co-op shooter, where many players unite to prevail against an overwhelming threat," reads Project U’s site (with thanks to wccftech). What sounds like a new co-op horde shooter is in "early development" and is looking for some folks to take part in a closed test.
The test will be in English, for PC, and limited to residents of Western European countries. That includes France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, and Italy. You’ll need to sign up for the test on Project U’s site and then wait for the acceptance email. The game will be downloaded and played through Ubisoft Connect.
The site adds, "We'd love to play with you and gather your valuable feedback in order to improve the game experience and steer production in the right direction!"
Whatever this game turns out to be, the only piece of concept art released makes it sure seem like you'll pick a character and to play as you fight an invading alien army. And you'll need a relatively decent computer to do it. Check out the recommended specs below.

Given the fact Project U's site is live, expect Ubisoft to make some sort of announcement shortly. And keep an eye out for Far Cry 6's Game of the Year edition, which will apparently include a new expansion.
