There is a lot going on with Naughty Dog right now with the controversial leaks of The Last Of Us Part 2. Whatever you think about the matter, it may be soothing to reminiscence on the award-winning Uncharted series. Uncharted signified a time, not too long ago, when Naughty Dog was highly regarded among gamers.

The Uncharted series is a remarkable achievement in gaming. It was one of the first games to successfully create a polished blockbuster movie experience within a video game. There have been several highlights from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune all the way to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

10 Unwelcomed Guests - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Nathan Drake holding a gun, against a wall

The original Uncharted took a left turn when naked zombies started crawling all over the floor and pouncing on you. It made sense within the overarching story but the transition to "horror" game was still surprising. In the latter portion of the game, Drake finds himself in a dark bunker infested by zombies. Fighting off the horde of zombies and navigating the dark corridors is an exhilarating and unforgettable experience.

9 The Rub al Khali - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

The Rub al Khali is another detour from the norm but that's what makes these chapters so memorable. After an intense set-piece, the pace of Uncharted 3 takes a major turn. The player spends the whole chapter walking around the Rub al Khali as day turns to night. The simplicity of the gameplay, the beautiful graphics, and the enticing music makes this stand out in an otherwise action-filled game.

8 Stowaway - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

This set piece may be a little out there but the spectacle is one of the best in the series. It currently stands as the craziest thing to happen to Nathan Drake and that's saying a lot. The best part of the scene is the gunfight inside the exploding plane where the cargo is shifting back and forth. This chapter even inspired a similar scene in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

7 The Thieves Of Libertalia - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

The Thieves of Libertalia is a perfect chapter to show Uncharted off to your friends. It demonstrates the extraordinary graphics of Uncharted 4 through the mountain range landscape, the smooth climbing mechanics, and the funny banter between characters.

The chapter also has one of the best set pieces in the game. When enemies start firing RPGs, everything descends into chaos. A tower collapses and, worst of all, Nadine punches Nate in the face.

6 Desperate Times - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

This chapter features one of Drake's funniest lines and one epic helicopter fight. Yes, Nate, this is sector 19 and a helicopter is coming to bombard you with bullets and missiles. Nepal was one of the best settings in Uncharted 2 and jumping across its rooftops is a sight to see, especially when avoiding gunfire. The chapter ends after Drake barely escapes a collapsing building.

5 A Rock And A Hard Place - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

The greatness of this chapter comes in its placement. Uncharted 2 starts with Drake hanging from a train that's hanging off a mountain. It may be one of the best openings in video game history. The chapter gave players a taste of the adventures to come and kept fans guessing about the story. Also, running for your life as the train slides off the mountain is an exhilarating experience.

4 Mountaineering - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Mountaineering was a welcome change of pace for Uncharted 2. It involves Drake and Tenzin communicating through a language barrier to explore an ice cave. A friendship develops between the two characters, which showcases Naughty Dog storytelling in a non-traditional manner. The chapter includes fun climbing segments and the classic Uncharted end game monster.

3 Locomotion - Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

The train fight in Uncharted 2 is largely regarded as peak Uncharted. It became the standard that future set-pieces try to live up too.

The combination of shooting goons on a speeding train and avoiding a pesky helicopter is top-notch entertainment. It was also fun to get the best angle on your enemies by climbing in and out of the train.

2 The Western Gnats - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

The Western Gnats is the biggest environment in Uncharted history. It involves Chloe and Nadine driving around a large open area to solve puzzles and shoot some bad guys. Naughty Dog does a good job of making Uncharted seem more open though it's still a linear game. This chapter gets bonus points for developing Chloe and Nadine's relationship through excellent in-game dialogue.

1 Hidden In Plain Sight - Uncharted 4

Everything that makes Uncharted great is in this chapter. There is fun interactivity with the civilians that showcase Naughty Dog's excellent writing, puzzles that are not too difficult but still make you feel like a treasure hunter, a unique climbing segment with the clock tower, and an intense setpiece that heavily focuses on gameplay. What more could you ask for?
