Few games have been as groundbreaking and impactful as Fortnite. This title, along with PlayerUnknwon's Battlegrounds, popularized the battle royale subgenre and paved the way for battle pass monetization systems, where certain skins account for highly sought-after rewards. Gone are the days where having the cool skin meant you were good at the game. No matter.

Overall, Fortnite accumulated a wealth of unlockable content, obtained through microtransactions and challenges, since its release. Because of this, it's rather easy to forget about less sought-after skins that still look compelling. Oftentimes, it's easy to regard the very last rewards in the battle pass as "the best skin in the game."

8 Airheart (Like Amelia)

The Airheart skin.

Some skins never gain a huge following unless a considerable amount of streamers start using them. That is the case for Airheart, part of the Aviation Age set, released back in Fortnite Chapter 1, Season 6. This game really has been around for a long time.

Although Airheart is classified as rare, the skin hasn't popped up in the Item Shop in well over a year, so it might prove difficult to get a hold of. Fun fact: Amelia Earheart, the famous female pilot who disappeared while flying around the globe, inspired Airheart's look. That's a nice nod to an interesting bit of history.

7 Payback - Stand Out

The Payback skin.

Some character models are used with a variety of outfits and tend to look the same. Basically, you see the same people just wear different clothes, over and over. That is not the case with Payback. Although at first glance her face is covered, this character presents a harmonious color palette that comes with an extremely detailed outfit.

Payback surely leans toward a niche style, but it is nonetheless original. So many skins are built with the idea that they are some variation of one military getup or another. This character breaks away from all that. Couple this skin with some of the best weapons in the game for maximum bonus style points.

6 Willow - 3Spoopy5Me

The Willow skin.

This skin is perfect if you want to scare the life out of someone. Willow is incredibly rare since it's part of a Halloween bundle that is no longer available. Few gamers, outside of skin collectors, have it in their inventory.

Imagine the limitless potential Willow has in battle, especially if you sneak up on an unknowing sniper. You can count on her solid fear factor to strike terror into the hearts of your enemies. Hopefully, this skin will come back on the market soon.

5 Paradox - Mysterious Swagger

The Paradox skin.

Paradox is easily one of the strangest skins in the game. It's hard to tell whether he's wearing a costume, pretending to be human, or trying to confuse people with its strange ouroboros tee.

In any case, there is no denying the overall look is catchy. That's without considering that there is no face for your enemies to look at. Paradox was last seen in the shop last March, and there is a good chance he might show up again soon.

4 Paradigm - RIP Anthem

The Paradigm skin.

Some skins can mix the best visual elements from Iron Man, the Doom Slayer, and Master Chief, and still never find their footing within the community. That's what happened to Paradigm, who looks beyond amazing.

As part of The Seven set, released during Season 1, Chapter 10, Paradigm was last seen back in October of 2019. No one knows whether she and the rest of the set will make a comeback at some point, it's just a shame many players turned this particular skin down.

3 Terns - Inspired Aesthetics

The Terns skin.

Fortnite comes up with plenty of awesome skins, but only a few could have their own spinoff game. Terns would be a perfect protagonist in a game like Journey. It's really hard to imagine this skin in a third-person shooter, where people are constantly battling each other. Nonetheless, here it is.

Everything about Terns emanates calm. He has a literal candle straw hat. How original is that? Keeping your eyes peeled to grab this skin is definitely worth the task of checking the store on a daily basis.

2 Mayhem - Splintercell But XCOM Style

The Mayhem skin.

Mayhem is a rare skin from the Wasteland Warriors set. It was last available about two months ago, but it's been in the game for considerably longer than that since it was released back in Chapter 1.

When present in the Item Shop, you can purchase it for 1,200 V-bucks, which is not bad considering it comes with an added style. In fact, both variations of Mayhem look epic. Whether you want to go dark with neon colors or set yourself apart from the crowd with a Bane-like gas mask, this skin is perfect for wreaking havoc across the map.

1 Kitbash - Tons Of Fortnite Easter Eggs

The Kitbash Skin.

It's hard to come across a skin that looks as interesting as this one. That's even without considering that the alternative selectable style for Kitbash is called Catbash, which replaces the stylized toaster-head with a metal cat's head.

Whoever came up with the design for this character did a fantastic job. There is so much going on with Kitbash: it has a banana peel on its colander shoulder pad, one of its hands is a magnet, and its entry body is made up of other seemingly repurposed items.
