PlayStation has already updated many of their older games to have better sounds, graphics, and features, including some of the older Final Fantasy games and Crash Team Racing. But there are still some amazing, forgotten PS1 games that absolutely deserve a remake for the PS5.

The Legend of Dragoon

One of the most underrated games of all time is The Legend of Dragoon, a fantasy RPG that was released back in 1999. The game follows Dart and his group of friends on what starts as a simple quest, all the way through their goal to save the world from the wingly dictator, Melbu Frahma. Dart and company use the power of the Dragoon (or dragon spirits) to fight countless turn-based battles and go against the fate laid out for them by the creator, Soa. What makes this game so extraordinary is the amount of detail and creativity throughout the plot and lore. With four discs of material that include multiple continents and countless cities, this enriching story brings to life an entirely new universe filled with magical beings. Not to mention, the game’s music is impressive enough to buy the soundtrack separately. Those that have played it even felt passionately enough about it to start a petition to get that desperately desired remake.

Suikoden

Another spectacular game deserving of a remake on the PS5 is Suikoden, a game centered around a hero named by the player. You work to build up and expand your army to take down the oppressive Empire. Though this is another turn-based, fantasy RPG, Suikoden requires the player to also ponder the positioning of your team during combat, in order to optimize weapon ranges. What sets this game apart from others is the spectacularly written character conflicts and political discussions. Considering this game has such strong content, a remake with better visuals seems like a warranted request.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Lastly, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an RPG where you play as Alucard and explore Dracula’s castle. Throughout the game, Alucard acquires new spells and abilities to use against the enemies. Depending on various circumstances, such as how much of the castle you explore during gameplay, you will finish with one of four possible endings. The exploration aspect in combination with the music makes this game one of the most enjoyable to play. With there being 942 rooms in the normal castle, it feels almost as if you’re exploring a world instead of a building. To top it off, many fans love the classic feel of the game and the inspirational quotes that come along with it. “What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk! Have at you!”
