Deltarune Chapter Two launches today at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST), according to a countdown timer on the official Deltarune website. The news comes as a complete surprise as we hadn't heard from Undertale developer Toby Fox since the last update just under a year ago. At the time, Fox said that Deltarune Chapter Two would be content complete before the end of the year, but it seems like beta testing and bug squashing took a little longer than expected.

A trailer posted on the Deltarune Twitter page showed Kris and Susie making a leap back into the Dark World, but little else was hinted at what Chapter Two would be about. If it's anything like the first game, expect to see a few Undertale cameos before setting out on a brand new adventure.

Deltarune first arrived way back in 2018 as the sequel to Undertale, the wildly successful classic RPG that took the world by storm in 2015. An anagram of Undertale, Deltarune features all-new characters and a similar but different battle system that's more inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy than Earthbound. With more than one party member to control, Deltarune allows players to combine their attacks for devastating effect--or they can once again choose to go down the pacifist route, so long as you can convince Susie not to kill anyone.

Chapter Two will apparently use save data from Chapter One, but it won't be necessary, according to the game's FAQ. To ensure you have save data ready to go, be sure to have seen the end credits of Chapter One by going to sleep at the end of the game. If you haven't played Chapter One fully or simply deleted your save file, don't worry. "As long as you generally remember what happened story-wise, you'll be fine," writes Fox in the FAQ.

More chapters are planned after Deltarune Chapter Two, but Fox is asking for patience as he continues to expand his development team to work on the franchise.

Deltarune Chapter Two arrives on Switch, PS4, Mac, and PC in just over nine hours.
