Undertale is perhaps one of the most beloved RPGs of the decade and, noting the fanbase, perhaps one of the most beloved RPGs ever. The game manages to be lighthearted as heck, with incredibly loveable characters and puns galore, but also manages to be incredibly sinister, with haunting music, unbelievably meta villains, and some areas that are truly upsetting to explore.

Thankfully, these areas are balanced out with some of the comfiest locations in video game history. Perhaps the cheeriest area in the entire game, Snowdin, houses some of the friendliest, cuddliest characters, catchiest tunes, and most interesting secrets.

7 Developer Room

Some players may have noticed that south of Snowdin there is an area that is quite unlike the rest of the forest. A small, out-of-the-way area that is more reminiscent of the Waterfall area than Snowdin — no snow, just a little grass and four glowing mushrooms. No, playing with the mushrooms doesn't open the door. It's been attempted, trust.

So, how does the door open? Well, if a player manages to dodge all of the 'Special Thanks' credits found at the end of a True Pacifist playthrough of the game, the door will be open on their next playthrough. Inside, the player is greeted with one-and-a-half dogs, some rope, a computer, and a copy of Undertale — not the most exciting items, but they're quite fun to interact with.

6 Console Exclusives

Undertale's original release was for PC and OSX only, but over the years it has been ported to other devices. In 2017, we saw a PS4 and Vita release, followed by a Switch release a year later, and most recently an Xbox One release. With each of these releases, the game wasn't changed too much, with one exception: the room under Papyrus' sink. Wait, the what?

If the player interacts with the cupboard underneath the sink in Papyrus and Sans' house, a small dog will jump out and, in any of the console versions, the cupboard will now function as a doorway. Where it leads changes depending on the console — the PS4/Vita versions show a dog shrine, the Switch version a defaced dog shrine, and the Xbox version a defaced shrine being turned into a casino, because, why not? Furthermore, exclusive to the Switch and Xbox versions is the secret boss Mad Mew Mew, a possessed Mew Mew Kissy Cutie doll with a unique battle theme and a ton of pent-up rage!

5 Good Boy!

Lesser Dog Undertale Pet RPG Video Game

Maybe it's not worth putting on the list, because...how could you not pet a dog? Unless you didn't try to spare him, of course. But only a monster would do that.

If the Lesser Dog is petted, its neck will become a little longer and the player will be able to spare it — but what if they were to pet it again? Inquisitive players will have found that the neck grows longer and longer each time they pet it, so much so that it will go off-screen and then begin returning down towards the menu. It may seem like there's no point to this (besides the sheer cuteness), but if spared, the Lesser Dog can be seen later on making snowdogs with necks as long as its own. The longer the petting, the longer the snowdog.

4  New Friend

Oh, Papyrus. Just as, if not more loveable than Lesser Dog, who would want to fight him? Though the Papyrus fight is pretty fun, there's a pretty easy way to skip the fight if the player is finding it difficult. Simply lose. That's it. After losing to Papyrus, he will place the player in his shed complete with bed and dog treats!

As comfortable as that sounds, the shed prison is easy to break out of and, if the player re-challenges and loses to Papyrus two more times, he will no longer try to fight. Instead, he'll refuse to fight someone who misses his face so much, claiming he is too tired to keep capturing the player and eventually befriending them.

3  Sans' Pad

Sans Undertale Video Game RPG

Another secret in the confines of Sans and Papyrus' house is Sans' room, which might just give a little backstory to this tale. Though, this is a little trickier to access than a dog under a sink. Firstly, the player must reach the Sans judgment stage of a non-genocide route, and reload after his speech. Repeatedly. Eventually, Sans will believe you're a time-traveler through the use of a secret code that he whispers to you, giving you the key to his room in Snowdin.

Inside his room are several fun items to interact with and some interesting Papyrus dialogue, along with a self-sustaining tornado of trash next to his bed. The real prize in the room is the silver key that can be found in the drawers. Leave the house, walk into its left side and there will be an even more secret room that houses a mysterious machine — oooh.

2  Fetch!

Doggo Stick Undertale Video Game RPG

One of the most enjoyable parts of Undertale is without a doubt the inventive ways that the player can spare the monsters that attack them. However, it's hard to find one more enjoyable than this.

Firstly, grab a stick. This shouldn't be too hard, as the player is given it at the start of the game. Second, try using it (use, do not attack with) during any battle against a dog-based monster. Congratulations! All of these sweet angels are now sparable and probably pretty pleased, too. As a bonus, using it during Mettaton's fight will boost the ratings as Mettaton jumps up and catches it with his mouth. Wonderful.

1  Wrong Number

Wrong Number Song Undertale RPG Video Game

Unfortunately, this secret appears entirely at random, depending on a secret value assigned to the player at the beginning of this game. If this value is between 2 and 39, then walking north of the houses in Snowdin, by the river, will trigger a phone call to the player from a mysterious stranger.

The stranger will ask for a person whose name begins with G, but upon realizing that they are calling the wrong person, will sing the Wrong Number Song! It's approximately ten seconds and it's bliss.
