Pokémon fans get ready! Pokémon from the Unova region will be arriving in Pokémon GO. Niantic did not say exactly what time these new Pokémon will become available, so keep an eye out the next time you load up the game.
Eight new Pokémon will be able to be encountered in the wild. These are the three Unova starters – Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawatt – as well as Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, and Blitzle. The starters will likely have a similar rarity as starters from other regions, with a similar capacity to evolve into powerful fighters. Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, and Pidove, on the other hand, will probably be similar to other common Pokémon such as Pidgey and Ratatta.
Other Unova Pokémon have been confirmed to hatch from eggs. 2km eggs have a chance of containing Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, or Pidove, but higher-distance eggs have a chance to hatch Pokémon that can’t be found in the wild. 5km eggs have a chance of hatching Drilbur or Foongus, as well as Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, or Blitzle. 10 km eggs can hatch Ferroseed, Klink, Litwick, Golett, or Deino. Lillipup, Patrat, and Klink also have the potential to appear in raids, and can even be found in the shiny variety.
Niantic is also going back on their earlier announcement that they would not have region-exclusive Pokémon. Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour are all regional exclusive Pokémon that will show up in the game. Pansage will only appear in parts of Asia and the Pacific; Pansear will only appear in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India; and Panpour will only appear in the Americas and Greenland. Heatmor, the Anteater Pokémon, can be found exclusively in the Western hemisphere, while its main prey Durant will be far away from its predator in the Eastern hemisphere.
To the keen-eyed Pokémon fan, it might seem like something is missing; these Pokémon do not make up the entire roster of Unova Pokémon. Unfortunately, it seems that Niantic is not releasing all the Pokémon from this region on the same day. More Pokémon from Unova will be coming out in the future, so stock up on your Unova Stones, because you’ll have a lot more Pokémon to evolve than just what you see here.
