The goose has officially become too powerful. Since the release of Untitled Goose Game earlier this month, the titular goose has very quickly become a star, as its troublemaking attitude and quasi-realistic behavior appealed to the most hardcore of gamers, family members who had never previously held a Joy-Con in their lives, and the many who fall in between those extremes alike. Now, though, the goose has grown too big for just its own untitled adventure and has begun entering into the worlds of other games, thanks to the game world-transcending Photoshop skills of its many new fans.

Consider, for example, the goose as a Dark Souls boss, as Twitter user and illustrator @Matt_Grigsby has. Whereas a typical Dark Souls boss has a recognizable pattern that can be learned and exploited with enough practice, the goose has no recognizable patterns; just a menacing honk (which can deal almost a full health bar's worth of damage, by the way) and a sick and twisted proclivity for pure, unfiltered mischief. No amount of estus flasks can help survive that.

Even the admittedly mediocre Photoshop skills of The Last of Us 2 writer Josh Scherr don't detract from the sheer power on display in this retelling of a classic moment from the original Last of Us (as requested by the game's co-creator, Bruce Straley). Joel and Ellie's journey would be all but over in this painful-to-imagine scenario in which the goose's magnitude of misconduct would be multiplied by an order of at least a hundred, judging just by the size of its massive beak. Simply put, honk > click.

Well... it was a good run. Just partway up Mount Celeste will have to do. After all, progress is relative, and it's common knowledge that not even reconciling with the parts of you that hold you back can overcome a goose to the head.

Come to think of it, the goose's coat of white down does sort of resemble the hair of another classic video game villain soon to be reintroduced to the gaming world in a long-awaited remaster. Coincidence or clear correlation? We'll find out soon enough...
