PC gamers can now access Ubisoft's UPLAY+ service. The Assassin's Creed company means to ape the Xbox Game Pass but with its own catalog of games. It's also throwing in guaranteed access to any betas of its games, as well as early access to the games' actual launch. To further sweeten the deal, anyone who signs up in September can have a free trial that lasts the whole month.

Per a Ubisoft press release, UPLAY+ is currently only available for Windows PC. For a $19.99 a month subscription fee, customers will have access to over 100 Ubisoft games. The service provides a list of available games that subscribers can add to their personal library. Once there, one is able to download it to their PC. Anyone who signs up from today to September 30th will qualify for a free trial of the service.

Ubisoft talked up the service by reminding us that the list of titles includes recent releases, a healthy back catalog, premium editions, and even the DLC. New games will be added as soon as they release. In fact, when it comes to October's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, UPLAY+ subscribers will get the Ultimate Edition of the game three days early at no extra cost. In addition, subscribers also get to take part in any betas. That begins this weekend with the Ghost Recon Breakpoint closed beta.

It all sounds great in theory. One could play through the Assassin's Creed games alone and find enough enjoyable content. In practice, well, you better be sure you love Assassin's Creed. Or Far Cry. Or Tom Clancy. A large amount of the UPLAY+ 100 games, at least from the way Ubisoft advertises it, are from those three series. You also get the more recent Rayman stuff and few oddballs like South Park: The Stick of Truth. It's about as much variety as you'd expect from one publisher starting a lone streaming service.

That free month trial is tempting, however. If nothing else, it might be worth trying out just for access to the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta.
