V Rising could be considered the Valheim of 2022, since it's a top-down survival game developed by an indie Scandinavian dev that's managed to top sales charts rather unexpectedly, although it swaps the vikings for vampires of course. But some players might prefer another perspective.

Literally, since there's a mod that adds camera options to provide other perspectives to the default Diablo-like top-down viewpoint. The V Rising camera mod has been refined and updated to the point it now works very well, and adds a fairly seamless camera experience for those wanting either first-person of third-person view.

Those interested can download the BepInExPack and paste the contents of the folder into the main V Rising Steam folder, then put the Modern Camera mod .dll files into a new 'plugins' folder within the BepInEx folder (thanks PCGamesN). Load the game up and play on any server except the official one and scroll with the mouse wheel to zoom the camera.

Those who've tried the mod say using the third-person view gives off Skyrim or Elden Ring vibes while first-person might recall Ark: Survival Evolved. You can check out what the mod's camera looks like in the video clip above.

A couple weeks back, developer Stunlock Studios announced that players can expect the original vampire to be re-introduced to the game. "Our ambition is to bring back Dracula," director Peter Illves said, elaborating that he'll be returning "as some sort of big event" in the future.

Creative director Martin Lövgren said, "Dracula isn't just the endgame. His effects on the world will be notable even in the early game. His impact will be something you experience throughout the journey".

So far V Rising has sold more than a million copies and the developer is working on the future of its standout success. "The next step will be to analyse all the data and feedback from the first weeks of Early Access to make sure we can nail the master plan moving forward. We're already working on new material to inject more life into Vardoran, but improving on the game is more than just adding more content on top of what we already have," Stunlock Studios said.
