Whenever you defeat one of the five bosses in Valheim for the first time, you are granted powers called Forsaken Powers. Each of these powers grants a certain buff to you for a short duration when activated, but you can only have one of these powers active time. Once you have defeated all the bosses and collected the trophies, you will have access to all powers and can choose between them in the starting spawn area.

Some of these powers are situational, and some are currently not useful in most cases. It's important to note that every power has an AoE radius, meaning that nearby players will also receive the buff. Additionally, each power lasts for five minutes and has a 20-minute cooldown. Here, we are going to look at every Forsaken Power, ranked.

Updated April 9, 2023 by Jacqueline Zalace: The Mistlands update brought a new biome and boss to Valheim. We've updated this list to include this new boss, called The Queen. Additionally, we've tweaked the ordering of entries based on the current version of the game.

6 Yagluth

Valheim Yagluth Forsaken Power

Power:

  • Resistance to Fire, Frost, and Lightning

Defeating Yagluth, the fifth boss of the game gives you access to this Forsaken Power. This power gives you a few resistances, that aren't too helpful in most situations. This is only useful for defeating Moder, since she's the only boss that deals elemental damage.

For general use, this power isn't that great. It doesn't have any practical uses. As the power for the second-to-last boss in the game, it can be quite disappointing for many.

5 The Elder

Valheim The Elder Forsaken Power

Power:

  • Increased Damage to Trees
    • you will chop wood faster

This Forsaken Power drops from the second boss of the game, the Elder. While the boss of the Black Forest Biome is dangerous for beginners, and summoning and defeating it requires a lot of preparation and planning, its power is somewhat disappointing in return. This Forsaken Power allows you to chop wood faster for five minutes.

While building home bases and farms is an important part of the game, this is not the best power to have, but since it does have a small area of effect, it can be a little useful for one player to carry this Forsaken Power in a group game. Overall, if you are trying to farm materials for a base, this is still a solid choice to switch to for a while.

4 The Queen

Power:

  • Increased Mining Speed by 100 Percent
  • Increased Eitr Regeneration by 100 Percent

The Queen is the final boss in the game, residing in the Mistlands biome. This boss is quite tough, with a worthy power. Although the power of increased mining and Eitr regeneration can be helpful, the power seems to come too late.

By the time you have defeated the Queen, you may not need faster mining. Faster Eitr regeneration can be good, but you won't always have Eitr reserved (if you didn't eat Eitr-giving food). If you don't prefer magical combat, then this portion of the power isn't helpful.

3 Moder

Valheim Modor Forsaken Power

Power:

  • Force a Tailwind When Sailing

Defeating the boss of the Mountain Biome, Moder, essentially gives you the ability to faster sailing. Unfortunately, this power only affects the winds while sailing, and it has no effect on land activities. And even in the boat, it doesn't stack with existing winds for more speed.

This is a very situational Forsaken Power, and the Icy Queen's wind-themed buff is somewhat disappointing and not as exciting as it could've been. Still, Moder's buff is necessary for exploring the seas, especially if the world you spawn in is filled with large oceans.

2 Eikthyr

Valheim Eikthyr Forsaken Power

Power:

  • Reduce Stamina for Running and Jumping by 60 Percent

This is the first Forsaken Power that you will unlock by defeating the Elk god Eikthyr, and it's one of the most useful powers throughout the whole game. This power will reduce the stamina required for running and jumping, making traveling and getting out of dangerous situations a lot easier. This can be very effective especially during the early stages of the game when you don't have access to foods that can buff your stamina.

While this is a useful buff for playing solo, this Forsaken Power can be even more powerful in groups. Since it doesn't have a universal cooldown, a group of four with Eikthyr's Forsaken Power can have the buff active at all times, which makes exploring a lot faster and easier.

1 Bonemass

Valheim Bonemass Forsaken Power

Power:

  • Resistance to Blunt, Slash, and Pierce Damage

Defeating Bonemass, the boss of the Swamp Biome, grants you the best Forsaken Power in the game. This power gives you considerable resistance against all forms of physical damage. While some enemies and bosses such as Modor, oozes, and Surtlings deal nonphysical damage, this buff is still a very powerful effect.

Most of the enemies in Valheim deal physical damage, so this power is a must-have for exploring most parts of the game. If you aren't planning on sailing or going up against Modor, Bonemass offers the best buff in Valheim. Overall, you should prioritize defeating Bonemass to receive this slightly overpowered buff.
