Valorant’s numerous Agents have access to bleeding-edge technology and mystical abilities, but Sova proves that sometimes a bow is all you need to get the job done. Sova is a member of Valorant’s 5 Initiators, and his Recon Bolt is the closest thing you’ll get to legal wall hacks in a competitive shooter.

Getting intel on the enemies’ locations is crucial for winning your rounds. With the potential of Recon dart lineups only limited by your imagination, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by Sova’s high-skill ceiling. There are thousands of potential Recon lineups, but the best ones shouldn’t lock you into a mid-match time commitment to get a pixel-perfect setup.

8 Attacking C Site

Without the proper use of agent utility, pushing onto the C site can feel like walking straight into the barrel of a gun. The C Long entrance into the site funnels your team into a single corridor, and there are several possible angles for the defenders to peek from. The distance your team has to cover also makes you vulnerable to getting dropped by an Operator.

This dart can be shot soon after the round starts and effectively reveals all the common angles defenders will use on C site. Stand in the corner of the wall near the Spawn wall, then place the center of your crosshair at the left edge of the pictured rock formation. Charge the shot for one bar and then fire.

One of the weaknesses of Sova’s Recon Dart is that it can become predictable. If you are using the same lineup every round, the chances of it getting destroyed before obtaining useful information increases significantly. To avoid falling into a predictable pattern, you will always need to have a couple of different dart lineups up your sleeve.

This dart will require you to stand in the corner opposite the Attacker Spawn wall. Place your crosshair in the small gap pictured in the image, and charge the shot for two bars. After it lands, the dart will effectively reveal most of the site and will be a great asset for your assault.

6 Attacking A Site

Entering A Site as an attacker will have you pushing both A Short and Long in order to clear a path to plant the Spike. Since either lane can be cleared with your Drone ability or another agent’s utility, it’s best to save your Recon Dart for the site itself. The tall walls that surround A Site allow your darts to take advantage of the verticality to reveal even the sneakiest defender.

To place this dart, stand in the left corner of the wall that borders the entrance of A Long. Place your crosshair at the very tip of the pictured roof, charge the shot for one bar, and fire.

5 Attacking A Site Alternative

As with the case on C Site, you will always want additional Recon Dart lineups to avoid becoming predictable. This dart can be placed shallower or deeper on the roof depending on how much of the Short Pocket you want to reveal. Remember that the closer the dart lands to you on the roof, the less it will reveal in the back of the site.

To place this dart, stand in the corner of the small pocket near A Long’s entrance. You will need to jump on top of a brick pile to get enough height. Place your crosshair on the deep edge of the roof, and charge the shot for the maximum three bars. If you want the arrow to be shallow, fire as is. To get more depth onto the site, jump right before you shoot, and the dart will land farther into the site.

4 Attacking B Site

Unlike A and C, B site is more restrictive in terms of placing an effective dart, and the complicated geometry of the central wall gives more opportunities for defenders to hide. To compensate, you will fire a dart that covers the entire front half of B, and follow it up with your Drone ability to get full site information.

To place this dart, you will need to secure the attacker Window that leads to Mid. Jump down behind the wooden crate and place your crosshair slightly above the pictured metal crate. Charge the shot to maximum and add one bounce to the shot. The arrow will land high above the front half of the site and cover all the corners there, eliminating potential shotgun surprises.

3 Defending C Site

If you are planning on pushing through C Long, or getting quick information on the attackers right into the round, you will want to clear the area with your dart. The added bonus of defending C Site is that your ultimate will cover the entirety of the C Long corridor. If your dart reveals numerous attackers stomping through Long, you can preemptively counter with your ultimate before they get onto the site.

To place this dart, stand in the corner of the box that sits on the Default Spike plant location. Aim your crosshair at the white tile that borders the edge of the pictured wall. Charge the shot to maximum and add one bounce before firing.

2 Defending C Site Retake

Sometimes it’s best to let the attackers use their overwhelming utility to take the site. If you find that you are the lone defender against a five-person push, it’s often the wiser play to let go of the site and save your utility for retaking it together with your team. After all, retaking a site when the defenders are down in players becomes significantly harder.

Placing this dart requires a bit more precision than the others. You will need to stand in the corner of the right wall next to B Site and C Link. Instead of your crosshair, aim the upper right tip of the Recon Dart charge bar to the second tip of the pictured roof. Charge the shot for one bar and then fire. It will land on a roof overlooking the entire site and grab valuable information for your team.

1 Defending A Site Retake

In most cases, you will find that defending A with an early round Recon Dart is a little less useful due to the complicated geometry on this part of the map. Since they have the protection of A Lobby, it is much easier for attackers to destroy your dart, hide or simply choose to rotate to a different site. That makes your dart much more useful for retake scenarios.

This dart will work similar to an attacker’s dart and will have attackers scrambling as you reveal all of their locations. To place this dart, stand in the left corner next to the entrance of B Site. Aim your crosshair slightly above the edge of the roof that sticks out over the site. Charge the bar to maximum and then fire.
