Brimstone is the grizzly veteran of Valorant’s five Controller agents. With the unique ability to drop all three of his smokes simultaneously, this burly Controller is the ideal choice for a calculated site rush. Aided by his speed-boosting Stim Beacon and leg-melting Molotov, Brimstone can get your team on-site before your insta-locking Reyna can even think about lurking.

Like a grown-up iPad kid, Brimstone uses his arm-mounted tablet to tap on locations for his smokes to drop. You need to consider that, unlike Omen or Astra, Brimstone will not be able to reach reach the entire map with his smokes. Staying aware of your positioning is critical for ensuring your smokes will reach their intended locations.

10 Attacking A From Short

Focusing an attack from Short is a great way to overwhelm the defenders on A site quickly. It is especially effective when you need to force close-range engagements, such as on a pistol or eco round. Of course, when your team has access to better weapons and more utility, you will want to avoid this strategy to gain more control of the whole site.

To place these smokes, put one on the entrance of Lamps, one on the right edge of Truck, and the last smoke between Triple Stack and the wall of Shower.

9 Attacking A From Shower

Valorant Brimstone smokes from A Shower

Similar to a focused attack from Short, attacking from Shower is ideal for forcing the defenders to get close in order to stop the Spike plant. This smoke setup is catered towards quickly overwhelming the defenders by securely taking a small corner of the site. Since you would be sacrificing overall site control for security, they are best used after the defenders have lost a few members. You want to avoid running headfirst into a wall of defensive utility.

If getting the Spike down is a priority, these smokes combined with a Sage Wall will almost guarantee you can plant the Spike. To place these smokes, drop two to cover Spawn and Heaven and a last smoke to block off Short and Lamps.

8 Split Attacking A

Attacking A from both Short and Shower will give your team more control over the site and force the defenders to split their attention. It is best used on rounds when you have the cash to afford rifles and full utility. It’s important that you coordinate the placement of smokes with your team as they push out of both Short and Shower. The last thing you want is your teammates in Shower to get sniped by an Operator in Heaven before your smokes land.

To create this smoke setup, place a smoke to cover Heaven, a smoke to block Defender Spawn, and the last smoke at the entrance of Lamps.

7 Attacking A With Site Control

If your team was able to get a quick kill early into the round, you will have much more flexibility in terms of your smokes. It will be much harder for any remaining defenders to hold the site, so your smoke setup should prioritize stopping early defender rotations from B and maximizing total site control.

You will place one smoke on Heaven and another on the Defender Spawn entrance. The benefit of getting the early pick on the enemy team will give you options in terms of where you use the third smoke. You can choose to re-smoke the areas you already covered or place a smoke to cover potential flanks from Short.

6 Attacking B

Regardless of whether you do a split or single-lane push onto B, you will want to use the same smoke setup. The sight angles of B site are generally shorter than A Site, so it's not as effective to create a smoke "pocket" as you would on A. You will want to smoke off both Elbow and the Defender Spawn entrance in order to close off the site as your team takes control. Avoid smokes that block vision on Tube, as it will allow defenders to easily hide in your smokes and greet you with a shotgun to the face.

For this smoke setup, place one smoke at the entrance of Elbow and another in Defender Spawn. You will keep one extra smoke that can be used to delay the other team’s site retake.

5 Defending A

When the spawn wall drops, the attacking team will be able to enter A Site from both Shower and Short. This smoke setup is ideal for most defensive situations and will cover both entryways without sacrificing any space on the site. Remember to place your smokes deep enough so that attackers won’t be able to clear corners using the cover of the smoke.

For this setup, place a smoke at the edge of the A Teleporter and the entrance of Shower. You will have one extra smoke that will be useful for further stalling or a potential site retake.

4 Defending A Aggressively

If you and your site mates are feeling extra bold, you may decide to push back the attackers actively. In this situation, you will need to smoke farther up to take map space away from the attackers. By cutting off the attackers with your smokes, they will need to spend more time and utility in order to take the space back.

One smoke will be placed on the common attacker angle outside Shower. The other smoke will be placed deep into Short and cut the path into two pieces. Combined with your deadly Molotov ability, your team will be able to deny one side of Short and push the other.

3 Defending B

Like the smoke setup on A, the smokes for B Site are also straightforward. When the round begins, the attackers are able to approach both Hookah and Long. Your goal is to block off both entryways completely and significantly slow down their assault.

One smoke will be placed at the edge of the Hookah and will cause any attacker who drops off the ledge to be completely exposed. The other smoke will block off the Garden connector to Long. Remember to communicate with your team if you hear the B Teleporter being used to indicate a potential rotation.

2 Defending B Aggressively

Taking control of the map as a defender is a valuable asset for winning the round. Working with your teammates to constrict the space attackers have to play with takes away their options for unpredictability. With that in mind, taking control of Long and B Link with aggressive smokes will make it much harder for attackers to push up freely.

When the round starts, place one smoke at the entrance of Long and another at B Link. It’s key that you coordinate with another teammate as you push out so that they can help you with utility or trade for you in the event of untimely death.

1 Bonus: Defending B Long Very Aggressively

This is an unconventional setup but can be highly effective as a one-off strategy that will catch the attackers by surprise. Your smokes will completely close off the right edge of the map. With the help of your Stim Beacon, you and another teammate can rush forward and take Fountain. From this position, the enemies will be forced to address your smokes or risk getting hit by a rapid flank.

As the round begins, you will immediately drop two smokes to block off the Attacker Spawn near Fountain and B Short connector. Follow up the smokes with your Stim Beacon, and watch the shock of your enemies as you and a teammate suddenly blast down long.
