Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is the upcoming sequel to one of the greatest RPGs of all time: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The franchise is based on a tabletop RPG - Vampire: The Masquerade - which encompasses several different lines of games, each one focusing on a different race of supernatural creatures such as ghosts and werewolves.

The connection between Vampire: The Masquerade and its video games were solidified with cameos from prominent characters from the tabletop RPG. This connection has recently been performed in reverse, as characters from the original VtMB are now part of the most recent edition of the tabletop game.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will contain a new cast of characters, but there are many fans who believe that there will be cameo appearances from the cast of the older games. The sequel is set in Seattle, but that doesn't mean that the Kindred of Los Angeles won't make an appearance in the game. Here are a couple of candidates - in no particular order - ranging from likely to unlikely to appear in the sequel.

[MAJOR SPOILERS FOR VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES]

Jeanette/Therese Voerman - Likely

Jeanette Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines Cover

The most likely character from VtMB to appear in the sequel are Jeanette and Therese Voerman - the Malkavian with the twin personalities.

Jeanette was the poster child for the original game and she was featured heavily in its promotional material. The quests given out by the Voerman sisters are considered to be among the best in the original game and the reveal of their true nature is one of its highlights.

It has been confirmed that Jeanette and Therese are still alive (or unalive) in the most recent edition of Vampire: The Masquerade. Therese even appeared in an episode of the L.A. By Night YouTube series on Geek & Sundry, where she was portrayed by Whitney Moore. The tabletop game established that The Asylum night club has become an international franchise, which gives them a reason to be in Seattle during the events of the sequel. The smart money would be on the Voerman twins returning in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

Prince LaCroix - Unlikely

Sebastian LaCroix was the Prince of Los Angeles and an important character in VtMB. LaCroix's search for the Ankaran Sarcophagus was the main storyline in the game and the ending was tied to his fate.

The problem with the idea of LaCroix returning is that he died in almost every ending in VtMB. LaCroix is either killed by the protagonist, blown up by the explosives within the Ankaran Sarcophagus, beheaded by the Kuei-jin, or arrested by the Camarilla (which would most likely result in his demise). No amount of points in Fortitude would have spared him from his fate.

Christof Romuald - Possible

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is the most well-known game based on the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop game, but there was another one that was released before it, called Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption.

Redemption starred a knight named Christof Romuald, who was turned into a vampire in the Dark Ages, but awoke in the modern nights. He was part of the tabletop game and he even took part in major conflicts in the year 1999.

The fans are mostly expecting cameos from the cast of VtMB, of course. However, there is no reason why the cast from Redemption can't also appear, as many of them were established to have survived into the modern era.

Velvet Velour - Likely

via whitewolf.fandom.com

Velvet Velour falls under a similar category as Jeanette from VtMB. Both of them are well-known for their sex appeal, but also the depth of their character and their skill at manipulation. Velvet (like Jeanette) has been a popular choice for cosplay over the years.

It was confirmed in the video game Vampire Prelude: We Eat Blood And All Our Friends Are Dead that Velvet is still around as of 2017, as she was seen at a party with adult film Stoya. Her status as a club owner means that she isn't as tied to a territory as other characters in the game, so there is nothing preventing her from moving to Seattle in the years between the two games.

Ming Xiao - Unlikely

It's possible to side with Ming Xiao in one of the endings of VtMB, where she betrays the main character and condemns them to a watery tomb. Ming Xiao is faced as a boss monster in the other storylines and the player will have to kill her in battle.

The reason why Ming Xiao won't be appearing in VtMB2 (other than her probable death) is that the Kuei-jin no longer exist in the tabletop game. The Kuei-jin were unique vampires from Asia and it's believed that they have been cut from the modern game to due to the negative racial stereotypes that they portrayed, both in the tabletop game and in VtMB.

Smiling Jack - Possible

Smiling Jack is the biker Brujah who helps the main character through their transition into a vampire and aids them during the tutorial section of the game.

It had previously been established that Smiling Jack had been killed during the events of Gehenna: The Final Night, but the events in that novel are no longer part of continuity. A conversation between Smiling Jack and Theo Bell was recorded in the recent Anarch sourcebook, so it's established that he is still unalive and kicking in the new edition of the tabletop game, which means that he could also appear in VtMB2.

Serena - Was Once Unlikely But Is Now Possible

Serena Redemption

Serena was a member of Clan Cappadocian and a party member during the Dark Ages segment of Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. The fate of Serena in modern nights was never established, but it's likely that she was intended to have been destroyed as Clan Cappadocian had been all but wiped out by that point.

However, recent developments in the new edition of Vampire: The Masquerade have made it possible for Serena to return. Several of the former clans of death are now united in some sort of new clan/cult called the Hecata, which will be detailed in an upcoming book called Cult of the Blood Gods. The Hecata supposedly contains members from clans such as the Cappadocians, the Giovanni, the Harbingers of the Skulls, and the Samedi. The fact that the Cappadocians are part of a prominent clan/sect again leaves the door open for Serena to return in VtMB2.

Beckett - Likely

If VtMB could be considered to have a figurehead character who represents the franchise, it would be Beckett.

Beckett is a famous Gangrel archeologist and historian, who wanders the world in search of lore pertaining to the origins of the Kindred. Beckett has appeared in a lot of works related to Vampire: The Masquerade and is usually at least mentioned in the ones where he doesn't appear. An appearance by Beckett in the sequel is almost assured.

Caine - Likely

A lot of people who played VtMB may not have been aware that Caine was in the game and only those who went digging through the files would have discovered his identity.

Caine is the biblical figure who slew his brother and was cursed with vampirism for his crime. All of the vampires in Vampire: The Masquerade are said to be descended from Caine.

In VtMB, there is a cab driver who shuttles you between locations. The player has several conversations with the cab driver throughout the game, but his true identity isn't revealed. Those who went searching for the cab driver's audio discovered that they were labeled "caine" in the game's files. If Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 features a cab driver as a fast travel system, then there is a good chance that it will be Caine sitting behind the wheel.
