Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption will be getting a brand new lease on life with a remake in Skyrim, thanks of course to modders. The project is currently being spearheaded by someone calling themselves Galejro in the popular forum NexusMods. The development has apparently been ongoing for just over a year now.

Galejro just released a second developer update to commemorate the anniversary, describing the modding project for Skyrim as “trying to bring back Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption.” The mod is appropriately titled Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption Reawakened. “We cover the last year of our work as we celebrate the first anniversary of our work,” Gelejro explains in the video. “If you want to follow the development or contribute work we have a Discord,” the modder adds along with a link.

Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption Reawakened was officially announced in a video released around this time last year. The project only received a small amount of attention at the time, but the progress made by Galejro and the team has clearly been considerable, going from little more than a concept to something which almost looks ready for a limited release. The team working on Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption has apparently grown from a “handful” to a “small crowd.”

The source material for the mod, Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption, was a roleplaying game developed by Nihilistic Software. Based on a tabletop title by White Wolf Publishing, the game follows a twelfth century crusader, Christof Romuald, who becomes a vampire after being brutally murdered. Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption sees Romuald travel to both New York and London over the course of the ensuing eight centuries in search of his humanity.

Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption was released for PC on June 7, 2000. The game received a mixed reception from critics, but was later elevated to cult status by a strong community of dedicated players. The game received a sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, a couple of years later on November 16, 2004.
