The fans of Vampire: The Masquerade had to wait fifteen years for a new video game based on the RPG to be announced... and now there are two. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 isn't the only upcoming game to be based on the tabletop RPG, as a second one has just been announced.

Vampire: The Masquerade is a tabletop RPG that is similar to Dungeons & Dragons, except the players take on the roles of vampires in a contemporary setting. The last video game based on the license was Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, which was released in 2004, which will be receiving a sequel in 2020.

A second video game based on the Vampire: The Masquerade license has been announced. The untitled game is being developed by Bigben Interactive, which is a French video game developer that has worked on titles such as Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter and Warhammer: Chaosbane. According to RPGSite, Bigben Interactive will be developing an RPG based on Vampire: The Masquerade in conjunction with Big Bad Wolf.

Bigben Interactive is also working on another game that uses the same setting as Vampire: The Masquerade, as they are currently developing Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Greenblood, which is due to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2020. Paradox Interactive has extended Bigben Interactive's license for the series, which will result in a "narrative RPG" set in the Vampire: The Masquerade world.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines was a commercial failure upon release, which was likely due to the decision to release it on the same day as Half-Life 2The game would go on to receive a cult following and still has an active modding community to this day. The recently released fifth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade has helped to revitalize interest in the game, along with the popular "L.A. By Night" YouTube series by Geek & Sundry. It seems that Paradox Interactive is keen on maintaining the momentum of the game's popularity by allowing other companies to release titles based on the license, even though there is another Vampire: The Masquerade game being released next year.

Bigben Interactive will reveal more information about their Vampire: The Masquerade RPG at Gamescom in August.
