A new report claims Venom 2 will be subject to a fourth delay, pushing it out of 2021 and into January 2022.

It seems like a lifetime has passed since MGM announced it would be delaying the release date of No Time To Die. Almost 18 months later and the latest Bond movie still hasn't hit theaters. Its delay also opened the floodgates as pretty much every blockbuster slated to arrive in 2020 and eventually into 2021 had its release date pushed back at least once thanks to the pandemic.

Most movies have been delayed more than once. Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage has now been delayed three times. Even worse for Marvel fans eagerly awaiting Tom Hardy to reprise his role as the extra-terrestrial anti-hero is news of a fourth delay. That's according to a report from Vulture which is yet to be confirmed by Sony.

Vulture claims Venom 2 will now not be here until January 21, 2022. That's currently the date on which Morbius is supposed to hit theaters, meaning that will also likely be pushed as the odds of both releasing on the same day are almost zero. A reason for what will be the Venom sequel's fourth delay has not been given.

The slate for both Disney and Sony is looking packed when it comes to Marvel movies. The potential shift of Venom 2 into 2022 also raises questions about the rumored merging of various cinematic universes. While the arrivals of older villains such as Doc Ock and The Green Goblin in No Way Home have been confirmed, if Venom's release date moves beyond No Way Home's then that will all-but-confirm neither Hardy nor his symbiote will become a part of the MCU this December.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, of course, but it does seem likely that Venom 2 will be delayed yet again. It will have already been a full year since it was supposed to be released should it still arrive in October. No one, especially Sony, will want to add another three months onto that year-long delay if it isn't needed. On the bright side, there's plenty of Marvel content confirmed to be here between now and the end of 2021 to soften the blow.
