2021's cinema has been dominated by superheroes as so many other movies push back and back and back with the pandemic. Aside from Dune, there aren't many big blockbusters to round off the year, but we have Venom: Let There Be Carnage in the UK just in time for the spooky season.

However, you can only watch it in theatres - Let There Be Carnage is not available on any streaming platforms, so be sure to wear a mask and stay safe when visiting the cinema.

Starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kassady, Let There Be Carnage tells the story of - as you probably guessed - Carnage's origin. Like in the comics, it's intrinsically tied to Venom "visiting" prison, but it's not Eddie Brock sharing a cell with Kassady this time around. Rather, he's a reporter talking to the serial killer for a story, accidentally letting a bit of black goo slip in the process. Good job, Brock. It's directed by Mowgli's Andy Serkis and written by Fifty Shades of Grey's Kelly Marcel.

So far, it hasn't pulled in the highest reviews, but it still has a decent enough score - Let There Be Rotten Tomatoes. On average, it has 60% from critics and 84% from audiences while it landed on an average of 6.5/10 on IMDb.

It's only one hour and 37 minutes long so you'll either find yourself having a quick, burst of fun in the cinema or a slog that you won't have to wait too long to get through. Whatever the case, you can watch it right now.

It does have an after-credits scene that fans will want to stick around for, heavily emphasizing the next step in Venom's story. If you're big into superheroes and like Sony's latest two films, then it's a must-watch. But, before that, there's a whole hour and a half's worth of symbiote on symbiote action with a score composed by Scream's very own Marco Beltrami. He also worked on Logan, Snowpiercer, and A Quiet Place. That's a lot of talent.
