It's a big day for Destiny 2, as both the new raid Garden of Salvation and the new seasonal activity Vex Offensive launched at 10A.M. While the hardest of hardcore players are competing for world's first in the raid, the rest of us will be grinding it out in the Vex Offensive where players can find not only new weapons but also a new way to farm powerful engrams.

In typical Destiny fashion, players won't be able to access the Vex Offensive until an introductory quest line is completed. Many players may be confused about how to start the activity. Here's a step-by-step guide to getting started in the Vex Offensive.

Talk To Ikora

The first step is to head to the tower and talk to Ikora. She will give you a quest called "Emergent Protocol" that requires you to kill 3 Gate Lords and 100 Vex. Ikora will also sell bounties for the Vex Offensive that reward Vex Components which you'll need to complete the weekly powerful engram challenge. She also sells Data Seeds, which are quest chains that cost Vex Mind Components and reward new Vex Offensive weapons.

Head To The Moon

There are 3 spawn areas on the Moon where the Vex Invasion will occur: the Hellmouth, Anchor of Light, and Archer's Line. You can see the Vex Invasion Zones on the map.

Head to those three areas and look for bright beams of light in the sky that signal Vex Invasions. You may need to patrol for a bit or even go back to orbit if you don't see them. Some players are reporting not seeing the invasions at all until they leave the planet and return.

The invasions will typically happen in groups of 3, which is convenient because you'll need to kill the Gate Lords that spawn during each invasion. If you don't kill them quick enough, they will escape and a new invasion won't occur for some time. Once you've killed all 3 Gate Lords you may need to patrol a bit longer to finish killing your 100 Vex. The Vex will spawn randomly in small groups all over the Moon if you need a few more to finish the quest.

Return To Eris

Once you finish the "Emergent Protocol" quest step, you will begin "Eyes on the Moon" which simply requires you to return to Eris. There are two additional quest steps, "A World Apart" which requires you to finish your first Vex Offensive, and "The First Of Many" which requires you to return to Ikora after your first Vex Offensive to collect your reward and unlock the weekly challenge for the activity.

The Vex Offensive has a new loot pool filled with swampy-looking weapons to collect and a tier 3 powerful engram to pursue every week. Check back soon for our full guide on beating the Vex Offensive and everything new happening in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep.
