Video game consoles have come a long way since the first pong consoles appeared in the 1970s. Players, investors, and programmers have found a million ways to rate the consoles, gong by size, design, gaming library, or technological specs. However, nobody seems to have considered using the signs of the zodiac.

Each video game console is unique, as each personality of the Western zodiac is also different. Branding among gamers is definitely a thing, with some adhering to certain names more than others. The question is, do gamers chose their consoles based, at least to some extent, on their star signs?

12 Aries - Playstation 2

Flashy and confident, the Playstation 2 and the Aries person have a lot in common. The first Playstation had a profound impact, and by the time the Playstation 2 came out, there was plenty of money and knowledge to make this console the focus of the gaming universe. Aries also takes on leadership roles and loves a challenge, so this is their console.

11 Taurus - N64

Practical and stable but uncompromising, the Nintendo 64 would be a Taurus if it was a person. Despite the strict rules regarding third-party games, which were bogging Nintendo down at the time this console was released, the N64 was still an impressive console that brought gaming into three dimensions. The titles that came out with the N64, such as Ocarina of Time, still resonate to this day. That's the stubborn staying-power of a Taurus.

10 Gemini - Nintendo Switch

Console or hand-held? Standalone or online? Like the Gemini person, the Nintendo Switch can fill both roles and be equally good at each. Adaptability and communication are traits shared by both the Switch and the sign of Gemini.

The Switch is one of Nintendo's more popular offerings, partly because it is so versatile. The gaming library is also extensive, so you might feel like you'll never be able to experience it all, a similar complaint that Gemini people make about life in general.

9 Cancer - NES

Of course, Cancer is one of the vintage consoles, but not just any console. Gamers could refer to the NES as the mother of modern gaming, the entity that rose from the ashes of the notorious video game crash of 1983. Not only that, but it also has one of the biggest gaming libraries of any console anywhere, truly the wellspring from which contemporary video game culture flows. The simple, yet functional design is also something crabby Cancer appreciates.

Is Sega Flashback The Next NES Classic?

This bold upstart gave Nintendo its first real challenge, and the courageous Leo is also known to rise to the occasion. The flashy, colorful titles took gaming to the next level, carrying titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and Castlevania: Bloodlines that were seen and marketed as games for big kids. The Sega Genesis had cool graphics and unique titles, and it foreshadowed a time when games would be multi-million dollar projects tailored to adults, and Leo also loves to be admired.

7 Virgo - Sega Dreamcast

Virgo's tend to be quiet people. They don't like to take center stage and it annoys them when others grandstand. That's why they would identify so strongly with one of the most understated and underrated consoles, the Dreamcast.

The last of Sega's offerings before the company slipped into obscurity, the Dreamcast has a few claims to fame. A few were designed specifically for promotions and some of these consoles have becomes valuable collector's items. It also featured unique games like Sea Man which were interactive and played in real-time. That's Vigo's way; take a closer look to see the impressive details.

6 Libra - Xbox

It takes a delicate balancing act to squeeze in between two titans, and that's why the scales of Libra would be an ideal symbol for the Xbox. Nintendo and Sony were duking it out in the console wars in 2001, with the GameCube on one side and the Playstation 2 on the other. Getting a slice of that market was no mean feat but like the diplomatic Libra. the Xbox succeeded and is now a fixture in the gaming universe.

5 Scorpio - Nintendo Wii

It's not over until the little Italian man sings, and those that thought Nintendo's days were done were corrected by the Wii. The folks at Nintendo dedicated themselves to some serious research and development to change the look of the console completely, the previous one being the Game Cube.  That fits nicely with the stubborn and resourceful Scorpio.

4 Sagittarius - GameBoy

The sign that represents the traveler would have to be a hand-held console, and not only that but one of the most popular and longest-running ones. In fact, this is the second portable console that Nintendo produced, the first being the Game and Watch handhelds that were only available in Japan.

The Game Boy certainly wasn't the first portable console, but it was the most versatile, the most durable, and is notorious for the sheer amount of peripherals you could attach to it. That's the perfect console for a Sagittarius.

3 Capricorn - Atari 2600

Collect a few gaming consoles, both new and vintage, plug them in, and see which ones still work. You can bet that the Atari 2600 will fire up no problem, assuming you have an old TV that goes with it. That's the essence of the Capricorn sign. Tradition and dependability, right down to the quaint wood finish and analog switches.

2  Aquarius - Playstation

Don't cross Aquarius. This progressive, hardworking sign despises is broken promises and disloyalty. The rise of the Playstation wasn't just Sony introducing a new idea to the marketplace, but the result of a compelling drama in which Nintendo authored its own demise. It was karmic justice that anyone can admire but only an Aquarius can author.

1 Pisces - Super Nintendo

via Nintendo Life

It all started with the original NES, but the sequel, the Super Nintendo, was when the artists and creators behind the console were given more freedom, more money, and generally more opportunities to make the games that they wanted. The success of the first Nintendo threw the doors wide open for Nintendo to rule the world. Artistic Pisces, who lives for intuitive, free expression, would love that.
