Video games are home to some of the coolest, most creative people around the world, leading to some of the craziest weapon creations of all time. However, if you stop to think about some of the most iconic video game weapons, you might realize just how farfetched most of them are.

Some of the most popular weapons in games are incredibly impractical in real-world scenarios, which gives them their unique traits and allows them to stand out. There isn't anything terrible with weapons lacking logic, just as long as they're fun to use. But, we couldn't pass on calling a few of them out for their ridiculousness.

10 Wabbajack - The Elder Scrolls

A screenshot showing the Wabbajack, a long staff made of black metal and adorned with grotesquely laughing faces.

The Wabbajack is a magical staff created by the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, and encapsulates why he wore the moniker proudly. This chaotic staff will transform any living thing it gets used on into a random object, monster, or innocent animal.

Not only is the Wabbajack a useless weapon in every Elder Scrolls game it appears in, but it also makes zero sense how it even works. How do you turn a bloodthirsty vampire into a delightfully tasty treat like a Sweetroll? It doesn't make much sense to us, but maybe this is where that guard's Sweetroll keeps disappearing to?

9 Pixelizer - Ratchet And Clank

The Ratchet and Clank series has tons of weapons that would fit into this list, but we decided to settle with the Pixelizer as our target for questioning. While the Pixelizer is undoubtedly an excellent weapon, the logistics of it left us scratching our heads.

Does turning your target into a heap of pixels not come across as weird to anyone else? Like, how does one turn a living, breathing thing into a raster display? Furthermore, how does the gun firing the pixelating shots not also turn into pixels when dispersing them? We have far too many questions, meaning the Pixelizer belongs on this list.

8 The Kingdom Key Keyblade - Kingdom Hearts

Sora from Kingdom Hearts wielding the Keyblade in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

It's called the Keyblade, which sounds incredible and kind of looks cool, but its logistics seem a bit farfetched. Even for Kingdom Hearts' standards. What exactly is the Keyblade, and where does the "blade" part of the equation fit into the mix? Because, quite frankly, all we see is Sora beating things down with a large, blunt key.

Also, yes -technically- the Keyblade would work even if Sora is violently bludgeoning anyone who stands in his way with it, but that's not the main point here. Our curiosity stems from how it can take down the likes of Sephiroth and why it's considered a blade despite there being no serrated edge to it.

7 Unicorn Gun - Red Faction: Armageddon

The Unicorn Gun in Red Faction: Armageddon

Now, when we say it "won't work," I guess there's no real way to test that out, but we can feel it in our gut with this one. Or, perhaps, the poor unicorn's. Red Faction: Armageddon's Unicorn Gun is quite something to behold and a weapon that demonstrates the absolute craziness of gaming.

The Unicorn Gun is, well, an actual unicorn that the protagonist of Red Faction: Armageddon mounts on his shoulder then proceeds to lift its tail to fire a beam of rainbows that wrecks shop. First and foremost, why does the unicorn blast that much destruction from back there, and why can it produce it on command? These are questions we never want to be answered.

6 Whirligig Saw - Bloodborne

The Whirligig Saw in Bloodborne

The Whirligig Saw is one of the coolest and most devastating weapons ever conceived. But, how does it exactly work? Without the giant blades, the weapon's shaft is an enormous mace that can bludgeon anything in its path. But, once clicked into the saw blades, it can spin them at blinding speed, cutting through just about anything Bloodborne throws at you.

While undeniably an exhilarating weapon to use if you take a step back and observe, the Whirligig Saw as a whole doesn't make much sense on how it operates. Powering those large saw blades seems like you'd need a lot of power, speed, and sharpness to cut through the likes of Laurence and the other formidable foes of Yharnam, which makes it illogical in many ways.

5 Plasma Pistol - Halo

The Plasma Pistol in Halo Infinite

One of the most recognizable Covenant weapons in the Halo franchise is the Plasma Pistol, yet no one really knows how it works. Sure, weaponizing plasma by turning them into burning hot projectiles isn't exactly exclusive to Halo, but that doesn't suddenly make it logical.

In Halo, the discharged bolts of plasma from the Plasma Pistol can disable vehicles and shields and even home in on their target ever so slightly. We have no idea how the weapon works, despite all the profound lore in the Halo franchise. We also have no idea how the Covenant has access to so much plasma, but some things are probably best left alone.

4 Gunblade - Final Fantasy 8

Squall wielding his Gunblade in Final Fantasy 8

Looks can be deceiving, and the Gunblade from Final Fantasy 8 fits that description perfectly. Not only is the Gunblade unwieldy, making the blade portion of the weapon hard to use, but the "gun" portion is also just a flat-out lie, making things even more confusing.

Squall's Gunblade in Final Fantasy 8 is a large sword with a revolver cylinder and trigger just before its handle. However, the cylinder and trigger are only there to make the blade vibrate? The whole situation is messy and head-scratching, which makes the Gunblade a perfect fit here.

3 Hand Cannon - Dead Space 2

Isaac Clarke wielding the Hand Cannon foam finger in Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2, the atmospheric, survival horror game that continues the story of Isaac Clarke, has terrifying enemies, technologically advanced sci-fi weaponry, and many moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. However, it also has one of the most absurd yet brilliantly funny weapons of all time.

This weapon mentioned above is the Hand Cannon, a foam finger positioned to look like a finger gun that outclasses every other weapon in the game. This foam finger is capable of dismembering any enemy you shoot, tearing them limb from limb. No one knows how it works or how a foam finger made its way to space, but it's funny and completely relevant.

2 Banana Peel - Mario Kart

Toad driving towards a thrown Banana Peel in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Perhaps an argument for every item in the Mario Kart series could be made for this list, but the Banana Peel felt like the right choice here. You see it all the time in comedy, where an unlucky person slips on a banana peel, becoming the joke of the situation.

However, making a kart that's traveling at a maximum of 70 mph spinout is ridiculous, even for Mario Kart standards. What are these Banana Peels made of? Are they even authentic? We have our doubts, making it a perfect candidate for this topic.

1 May's Anchor/Aquatic Animals - Guilty Gear

May petting Mr. Dolphin in Guilty Gear Strive

May is an adorable Japanese girl and member of the Jellyfish Pirates in the Guilty Gear franchise that seems calm and innocent on the surface but will annihilate anyone who underestimates her. May can wield a ship anchor and summon aquatic animals, which she will use to obliterate anyone in her path.

You might ask yourself, "how can such a small, innocent girl swing around a 20-ton ship anchor?" and we're right there with you. The only in-universe explanation given for May's superhuman strength and ability to summon in sea animals is she's Japenese. That's it. That's all we got. May is a remarkable character, but she belongs in this discussion.
