Vin Diesel announced he is working on the upcoming Ark movie for the big screen, based on Studio Wildcard's open-world game Ark: Survival Evolved. It is unclear, though, whether the actor will star in the movie himself.

Ark 2 has just got its new trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, revealing the game will be coming to Xbox and PC sometime in 2023. However, fans of the Ark universe can expect even more exciting projects to arrive in years to come.

The Fast & Furious actor Vin Diesel, who also appeared in brand-new Ark 2 trailer riding a T-Rex, revealed on his socials that he's producing the upcoming Ark film. It seems that video game adaptations are a new big thing for Hollywood — and a pretty tempting opportunity for a studio that is already partnering with such a big star.

"The best game out right now is Ark Survival Evolved… my son introduced me to the game many years back," Diesel wrote on Instagram. "Then Wildcard and all of the genius over there asked me to shepherd the IP into the TV and film space… an honor I can't begin to describe. Any real gamer is excited for Ark 2. But I am excited for you all to see the franchise unfold on the big screen. Stay tuned."

The actor and producer did not provide when the Ark movie will be coming to cinemas. It's also unknown if Vin Diesel will play the lead role in the upcoming adaptation, but that's highly likely, as he served as producer in almost every movie he's starred in since the early 2000s.

Alongside the announced movie, there's also Ark: The Animated Series currently in production, with Diesel involved as actor and producer too. The show is expected to arrive later this year and features an all-star cast of David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Jeffrey Wright, Karl Urban, Elliot Page, Michelle Yeoh, and Russell Crowe.
