If you haven't found a mystery room yet, we encourage you to take extra care to search each wasteland floor. You're bound to find one in no time! And if you've found a mystery room already but wish to learn more, we listed some of the unique mystery rooms we found below.

How To Find Mystery Rooms

Robbie approaches a bright yellow mystery room portal in the Dead Sands wasteland of Void Terrarium 2.

We can't give clear directions to find a mystery room because VT2's wastelands are randomly generated. Therefore, the mystery room could be anywhere on a wasteland floor. Plus, not every wasteland floor has a mystery room. However, we can tell you what to look for.

On a map, mystery room portals are a brighter shade of yellow than normal portals. However, they're much easier to spot in the playfield. This is because mystery room portals are yellow with a small blue and orange border, unlike regular green portals with a white and red border. Plus, mystery portals are not as big, sporting a more efficient look.

What Types Of Mystery Rooms Are There?

Robbie gets to open a mysterious box inside a mystery room in Void Terrarium 2.

As the mystery room moniker implies, you'll never know what you'll get. However, you'll learn more about what each type does after you've traveled through enough of them. These are the mystery rooms we've encountered so far.

  • Rare Item Rooms: These mystery rooms let you collect high-powered weapons, shields, bombs, and other items. The items are presented in boxes that you must attack to open. Sometimes, you'll get to open every box and pick up the contents you need. However, you may only choose one of three mystery boxes in other cases.
  • Research Shop Rooms: On your first visit to this room, you'll meet a scarecrow-like character researching the battle capabilities of mutants and machines. Once you accept its request for assistance, you'll receive in-game missions that reward contaminated crystals. The next time you visit this mystery room, you can exchange those crystals for new skills and items.
  • Skill Swap Rooms: In this room, you'll get to exchange an unwanted passive skill for a new one. This skill is randomly chosen and may feature better stats than your last passive skill.
  • Blessing Rooms: These mystery rooms gift you a scarce highly-effective passive skill.
  • Forging Rooms: These mystery rooms let you forge weapons and shields together to produce stronger ones. An orange tube is in the center of the room where the forging gets done. First, throw the weapon or shield with the skills you wish to carry into the tube. Then, add a second weapon or shield to increase the item's level. The new item will become one level higher than the highest-level item forged.
    • TIP: Forging rooms include four new items: two weapons and two shields. Forge new items from these weapons and shields first. Then you can use these boosted items to further improve the weapons and shields you already own!
