Necramechs are a recently-added mechanic in Warframe. Rather than play as a space ninja with crazy space powers, Tenno can get behind the controls of a terrifying Warhammer 40K-inspired mecha that’s armed to the teeth with guns, rockets, and now a sword and shield.

The first Necramech arrived with the initial Heart of Deimos open-world expansion, and the second one named Bonewidow arrived with the Arcana update. Now, thanks to an interview with our very own Cian Maher, we're finding out that Digital Extremes has plans to add even more Necramechs in the future.

Speaking to Digital Extremes' COO Sheldon Carter, Maher asked if there was anything really cool coming Warframe's way in the future. Carter wasted no time explaining that players should really get to know their Necramechs to prepare for future content drops.

“What came out in Deimos and Deimos Arcana was the mechs. I’m kind of a huge fan of mechs in general. The way that we’re pushing that, the things we wanna do with the Necramech system," Carter explained. "But what we wanna do with that system, how we wanna integrate that, how that actually plays into the future of the game - without getting too spoilery - it’s something that if you haven’t really had a chance to invest in that system and learn how they play and use them a bit, we’re gonna have lots of places for you to try that more as we proceed, and it’s really exciting and actually really deep.”

It doesn't take too long to get into the Necramech system. Playing the new Heart of Deimos expansion for an hour or two will send them on their first Necramech expedition beneath the surface of the Martian moon, and later there's an entire customization system to unlock for your own personal Necramech. From the sound of things, Necramechs are set to become another collectible gameplay mechanic just like Warframes are themselves.

And the best part is, you shouldn't be waiting too long to acquire those Necramechs in the future. Carter said earlier in that same interview that new content drops won't be locked behind 40-50 hours of gameplay, so you should be able to hop into that Necramech whenever it arrives.
