Creating the best builds in Warframe will require the correct Mods. Some of the best Mods you'll find in Warframe are Nightmare Mods, unique Rare Mods that have two positive effects. And just like Corrupted Mods, you'll need to earn these Mods by completing a unique game type: Nightmare Missions.

These missions are slightly tougher than Warframe's standard Star Chart missions. Beyond higher-level enemies, these missions also have modifiers that make the level more difficult. In this guide, we'll be going over what Nightmare missions are, how to unlock them, all Nightmare mission modifiers, and every Nightmare Mod you can obtain from these missions.

What Are Nightmare Missions?

Warframe Nightmare Mission

Nightmare Missions are tougher variants of Star Chart missions, featuring random modifiers and higher-level enemies. Compared to Steel Path, Nightmare missions are vastly easier, only featuring level 30 enemies without any scaling changes. If you can handle enemies on Sedna, you can tackle Nightmare missions without much issue.

Nightmare Mods And Drop Sources

Completing a Nightmare mission will grant a Nightmare Mod, a unique Rare Mod that has two positive attributes. Unlike Corrupted Mods, Nightmare Mods have unique drop pools that span various level ranges in the Star Chart. There are three drop pools, each tied to a certain set of planets.

How To Unlock Nightmare Mode

Warframe Promo Image

Nightmare missions are unlocked by completing every mission on a planet. Once you've completed every mission on a given planet, one node will have a Nightmare variant you can attempt.

You can only complete one Nightmare mission per planet every eight hours. Nightmare mode is unlocked per planet, so if you want to unlock Nightmare missions for every planet, you'll need to complete every node on the Star Chart.

Nightmare Mode Modifiers

There are six potential modifiers a Nightmare mission can have. Up to two modifiers can be active in a given mission.

Modifier

Description

Death Detonation

Slain enemies explode, dealing a percentage of their max HP as AoE damage.

Energy Drain

Your Warframe's Energy reserves will drain 15 Energy per second.

Health Vampire

Passively drain 1.5% HP per second. Killing enemies will grant 12.5% HP.

Low Gravity

Enemies and players are less affected by gravity.

No Shields

Your Shield maximum is set to 0. Overshields are disabled.

Timer

You have 5 minutes to finish the mission. Kills extend the timer.

Note: The No Shields modifier completely breaks Hildryn's kit. Don't use her for these types of Nightmare missions.
